Jardin des Tuileries - les cinq mères

Jardin des Tuileries

While the children played not far from view
the five mothers enjoyed a respite with friends.

One of the boys spent an hour playing in the water puddles
with hardly a glance given by his maman.

  1. Guess I was weird back "then" I spent more time with my kids than I did with grown up friends??? But we did have lots of fun! Matter of fact, we still do when we're finally able to get all of us together in one place! That will happen Christmas this year and I'm counting the days! Fun post as always, Genie!! Have a great weekend!

  4. I would have loved to spend time watching my little ones play in the Tuileries! And chatting with friends would have been an extra joy! Great photo!

  7. French mamans are a lot more trusting that their little ones will behave than American moms are, I think. I'm still friends 30 years later with the moms I met in the neighborhood playground (but we always had at least one eye on the kids!).

  8. Where are the kids? Ha I remember going to the park with my kids and grandkids. We didn't have time to sit and talk with others, they wanted us to play too! Ha I remember climbing up the jungle gym and sliding down the enclosed slide with them in between my legs! Weeeee

Have a great weekend, Genie! :)

  10. That is just what I was thinking. "These five women letting their kids play in those muddy puddles? It would never happen in the States."

  11. It is interesting to watch the families in parks. This was a weekend in Tuileries. On a weekday in Parc de Monceau most of the "watchers" would be nannies.

I have some photos of the child playing in the water, slinging it with a Frisbee-type object, soaked through to the skin. He could be seen from this vantage point and was surely a child from this group. Very interesting and different from what we would see in a large city park in the US.

I think that part of this French attitude is what puts me at ease, even being in Paris alone.

You do not see French women playing chase or running after the children. For the most part, the children entertain themselves.

Yes, OA-B your autumn shots of Romania are stunning indeed.

    Enjoy your weekend, all!

    Bises,
    Genie

  13. I agree that the attitude is very different outre-atlantique and to me this certainly is an interesting topic having lived on both sides with kids... could write up a storm about his one, Genie!
