Is Monday "laundry day"?
Seen aux deuxième étage in a narrow street near Canal St. Martin,
this haphazard display of laundry was probably not arranged by the woman of the house.
I do love the rooftop chimneys of Paris.

What a great capture for the day, Genie! I know I say that every day, but it's true! You always find beautiful, intriguing, different shots of Paris and I enjoy and look forward to them -- every day! Hope you had a good weekend and that you have a wonderful week ahead, mon amie!

I love this and we might need to talk about a print for my wall! :)

How very European!
ReplyDeleteHello Genie:
ReplyDeleteIt could be straight from the 1950s, or even earlier. Wonderful.
Some problems with wind?..:o)
ReplyDeleteAn out of time picture!
I love the way this photograph contrasts with your previous one.
ReplyDeleteMakes me think of Italy (except for the French windows).
ReplyDeleteThe chimneys all seem to come from different periods,an interesting assortment.Beautiful image!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your week,
Ruby
one of my favorite kind of shots. love the white radiance of the sheet filled with sunlight.
ReplyDeleteNice shot. When you see al those chimneys you are wondering if there is any space possible behind that window with the flowers in front.
ReplyDeleteI like it more because everything isn't hung up neatly! B&W is perfect!
ReplyDeleteOne of our daughters was backpacking across Europe. Her Italian landlady saw their clothes hanging out..took them down and re-washed them. She didn't want dingy clothes on her line!
ReplyDeleteWho's job do you think it was to hang the clothes on the line? Hummm...:) Reminds me of helping my mom hang clothes outside when I was a child. She stretched the clothes out on the line and taught me to make sure the clothes pins were holding the ends of the clothes very tightly. :)
ReplyDeleteSome things are universal.
ReplyDeleteWhy do I find this so charming? Maybe because you don't see this very often where I live! And I think you're right—this looks like the work of a non-expert. :~}
ReplyDeleteHow is it that laundry hanging out to dry in Europe is so much more charming than the very same in the States???
ReplyDeleteIn my country we do not dry the clothes like this. That is why this seems so strange and romantic, as in the old movies.
ReplyDeleteI love this image.
LOL! Nope, definitely not a woman's laundry-dry line. It looks like something my husband would do.. (if we had a clothes line.) :) I got a good Monday morning chuckle from this photo, Genie! Thank you. :D
ReplyDeleteHaha.....you're probably right Genie....that's how I would throw them out....hoping they would land safely.....nice pix!
ReplyDeleteYou've created a historical image...timeless...
ReplyDeleteI agree, it doesn't look like the work of a woman.
ReplyDeleteA peek inside real life in Paris. Thanks!!
ReplyDeleteI feel a man's touch to this line of washing..but on saying that I have seen my washing line when I've been in a rush to get out haha! I so agree about the rooftops in Paris, what is it about them that always looks charming?
