Église Protestante Lutherienne Saint-Jean,
a small church in gothic style, almost missed as I walked along Rue de Grenelle.
It was built in 1912 on property left to the Lutheran Church in Paris
by French landscape architects Buhler brothers.

Hello Genie:
ReplyDeleteWhat a delightful church. One of our interests in life is looking at church architecture, and of course what is housed inside, always magnificent paintings in Italy, and so this post does resonate well with us!
It looks a beautiful little gem of a church, I hope you got to go inside too.
ReplyDeleteThis has to the smallest church in Paris.
ReplyDeleteGreat picture of a little, old building. (Well, not so little, really.)
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a story book church. What a lovely setting for an intimate wedding!
ReplyDeleteThis beautiful church shines, love the setting!
ReplyDeleteIt looks very welcoming in this shot.
ReplyDeleteSo lovely....
ReplyDeleteAnd the light is splendid...I just want to take a stroll there!
Beautiful, Genie...

Beautiful church, I love the walkway leading up to it. :)
ReplyDeleteVery pretty pale stone building and pathway.Gothic seldom looks this simple!
ReplyDeleteBon dimanche Genie,
Ruby
«Louis», being a Lutheran, is quite interested in this.
ReplyDeleteWhen he lived in Paris, he missed this church. He looked for a Lutheran parish to attend but never found one. Lutheran parishes in France are few and far between! Not finding a Lutheran parish and living near Nôtre Dame, he frequently attended the 11:00 choral mass there on Sundays.
Even a simple little church like this is a welcome discovery in Paris, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty little church. We have tried many churches based on their pretty looks alone...for some reason my husband does not think this is a good reason to attend a church. :)
ReplyDeleteSadly, I did not go in, and I have no explanation for that. I think that my husband and I were on our way to meet friends and needed to hurry along... a reason (like I need it!) to go back.
ReplyDeleteBises,
Genie
Did you know that behind the church, entrance to the left, is the American University Paris, aka AUP (or at least part of it)?
