As chic as this small cafe appears with the toile-covered chair backs and white tablecloths, I much prefer the standard Paris cafe chair to these black stools.
Oh yes, I agree with you, to sit on a stool is terrible, you have to be able to lean to watch people don't you? This way you look at yourself in the window!
The look is nice but those stools are not very inviting. Let's hope this does NOT start a trend. Could they be after a faster turnover of their tables? Non, not in Paris! Do you remember what time of day you shot this photo? No customers should give them a hint.
I completely agree with you. It's good for furniture, in one's home, or out, to be lovely, but comfortable and relaxing as well. These look very stiff and formal...
It could become the famous "petite robe noire", but for cafés! :)
ReplyDeleteTotally agreed! As much as it gives the 'a la mode - industrial look' and as much as they are easier to arrange, no charm and not very comfi...

Interesting, you don't see that a lot ! :)
ReplyDeleteOui et surtout beaucoup plus inconfortable...

ReplyDeleteChic...très chic!
ReplyDeleteLéia :)
There are endless cafes in Paris, isn't that great!
ReplyDeleteLove the black and white....and I would trade that stool for a chair any day!
ReplyDeleteWEll they are certainly cute but I like to linger over my wine, and being perched on a stool just won't do. I think they did it to save space!

ReplyDeleteOh, I agree, too!! Definitely prefer a chair with a back! Lovely looking place though and a terrific capture as always, Genie!

I was wondering the same thing as Harriet...for me, these stools are so un-French.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't think these would be very comfortable. I love the tables though.
ReplyDeleteElegant in a way, but I'd hate sitting on them more than 5 minutes
ReplyDeleteI think it's their way of indicating they don't want you to be so comfortable that you'll linger too long over our coffee.
ReplyDeleteVery chic but not at all inviting! After walking from one end of Paris to the other, I'm not too likely to park myself on a hard stool w/o a backrest.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo! I have to say my butt is feeling sore just looking at those stools lol! I love the chairs in the restaurant though!

ReplyDeleteBien sur! Moi aussi! The black stools leave much to be desired!
ReplyDeleteNice reflection.
