Teinturerie Galande

With the exception of the modern furniture in the background,
this could have been a scene from the late 40s Paris.

The sign is in rouge and I was so tempted to show the color,
but the style begged for black and white.

(do you know how difficult this is for me?)

  4. Those bellhop hats must have been standard world wide. You are right Genie... it does look like something from the 1940's.

  13. Great one... I get all nostalgic when I see those old blue metal policeman signs in the US. Know which ones I mean?

  14. Some shots just call for black and white. Perfect choice - though I'm always one for a bit of red :)

  15. Oh yes, Bibi, I remember those signs and I think that they were put in school zone crosswalks.

I looked at the color and the b/w back and forth and still think that the b/w is best. If I tell you that those chairs in the background are purple it might sway your vote, and I mean really purple!

I think that this sign "goes" with the business and that it is the same sign that they have been putting out each day for 70 years. Just another thing that I love about Paris.

    Bises,
    Genie

  17. I agree Genie, it's coming across quirky little things like this that make Paris so special..and if the chairs behind are purple, you definitely made the right choice with the B&W.

  18. Good choice to go with black & white. I think it suits the classic style of this sign.

  20. In my Lightroom processing program I have a very cool faded photo preset that would give this (and the red) a very cool, old twist!!!)
