Under the exquisite dome of Galeries Lafayette,
the large tree towers many levels above the rez de chaussée.
I was a bit disappointed to see the "Rock'n Mode" theme
and would have preferred something a bit more elegant
such as the hot pink packages and bows or the giant red balls of previous years.
I am a romantic at heart,
and rock'n the tree was not what I was wishing for.

Oh dear, yes I much preferred last year's tree as well. Oh well, maybe next year.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you so much, Genie! But I would really like to be there and see that tree though! Have a beautiful day! I'm glad to be back after my little blog break.
ReplyDeleteKristin xx's
Yet the tree is still interesting and will appeal to many viewer, I'd bet!
ReplyDeleteAgreed - odd theme. Nice to see a Christmas tree up, though.
ReplyDeleteOh I hear you Genie, the colour and the words are all wrong, BUT...at least it's not hideously purple haha!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you, I don't think the "Rock n' Mode" fits well with what I think of as a French Christmas. But I guess they want to push the envelope.
ReplyDeleteYet another non-Christmas decoration. What is wrong with Paris this year?
ReplyDeleteLike you, I did not like the Galeries decorations this year; Too "rock",not Xmassy enough!
ReplyDeleteI miss Paris so much! Thanks for this wonderful picture, I would love visiting this Gallery! The decoration is awesome!

I feel the same way. It doesn't really meet my criteria for a traditional Christmas tree. Rock'n Mode just doesn't feel right. Sigh...

Sometimes, even in Paris, you have to wonder at the taste level of the designers.
ReplyDeleteOh you're all fuddy duddy's!!! I know, because I'm one too!!!
ReplyDeleteFun Rockin' tree...but not my cup of tea!!!
I have this to say..........NON, NON, et NON!!! GL, you disappoint this year.

I know what you're saying. It is kind of interesting on its own terms, but I don't go "Ooooohhhhh" or "Aaaaaahhhhh."
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with you. I also prefer a more romantic, kitschy Christmas tree.
ReplyDeleteIt has been a long time since I was in Paris in December... I miss it!
ReplyDeleteRock or not rock, Joyeux Noël to you too.
