Église Saint Étienne du Mont - Angels on High

Angels on high

I do not believe that anyone has counted the angels and cherubs in Église Saint Étienne du Mont, but there are many, perhaps hundreds.

I have brought you here before and will bring you again.  This bright, airy church is filled with details, history, angels, and light.  I will have to return for a concert.

  2. «Louis» is very appreciative of the fact that you have brought us to St. Etienne du Mont before and will do so again. It is one of his favorite places in Paris and he relishes your photos of it.

  3. I haven't been to this particular church, so I thank you for the introduction. I was so lucky as to attend a gospel concert in Eglise St Roch last year. It was really a highlight of my trip, and thinking of it still makes the hairs stand up on the back of my neck.

  9. Louise, I'm wondering when that was. We had an apt. across the street last Jan. and went over to see what was going on and it was a gospel group in progress!

Genie, I love the angle here with the slice of the church in the background. Beautiful.

  11. And like you, at the age of first grade, I encountered Paris through the book, MADELINE. I fell in love. 28 years later, I would get the courage to learn to speak French. I have been teaching in a French immersion school after 17 years of education and I have been to Paris once. Though not enough times for my liking, that one trip fulfilled a need I had to SEE it, TASTE it and HEAR it for myself. AND....thank you for being my 1000th follower!!!!!

Have a marvelous JOURNEY as you explore all that FRANCE and the FRENCH PEOPLE have to offer. I love them all, for I work closely with new and young French teacher trainees every year.

    GROSSES BISES! Anita

  20. I notice that any of my readers who have seen this church remember it well. Starman, you are right that it is famous for its rood screen but it is a treasure of other details as well.

Brattcat, I cannot imagine how many angels there are in Paris, but I would volunteer for a research project. I may devise something on a smaller scale, but I am thinking about how to combine a count of angels and tasting of macarons.

Welcome Sharon and Fleur de Paris.

    Bises,
    Genie
