Bonjour dear Genie, Great shot! Here it's also time to come back to school.Anyway I still have some days of vacations before of my French lessons! :) it's good because I need time to recover from jetlag. Thanks for your always kind words!Little Luna is sending purrs to your heart! hugs Léia
Sitting on a bench watching the girls/boys walk past is thankfully a pastime that has no age limit!! Love the dramatic B&W effect Genie, looks timeless!
As Alfred, Lord Tennyson, said, "In spring, a young man's fancy turns to thoughts of love." He obviously didn't live in Paris, where it doesn't have to be spring....
Yep, I'd say they are watching the parade of young women passing and wondering which one might be the "one". It's hard to keep your mind on your "studies" with so many distractions!
Ah, can't be sad to return when you have a sight like this waiting for you! What a fun capture for the day, Genie! I love it! Hope you have a wonderful evening!
They must have been a wee bit sad to be cooped up in a classroom again, but I bet they are all smiling and happy now, although you can't see their faces.
Oh, yes, Genie, they are studying all right. I studied the same thing when I was their age. Come to think of it, I study the same thing today, I am just more practiced at doing it with my peripheral vision . . .
Joe, I have been humming that old song all day after reading your comment!
Paul and Starman, I know that I can count on you both for stark honesty... merci.
s.c., thank you. I am honored by the comparison.
I think that we all recognize this scene and some of you (Jack) still perfect the technique. The attention was not lost on the teen girls either. This was a split second shot of the moment and I do love when you hold your breath for just that one moment.
Yes - they have their studies sorted! Lovely capture today x
ReplyDeleteC'est pareil partout; la France, les Etats-unis, le Canada.
ReplyDeleteDelightful picture, Genie. I wonder what's on their minds.
it almost look like you placed them like that on the bench, watching the girls, with a special tree cut off at the right angle
ReplyDeleteOh, what a wonderful story you've captured, Genie. Now I shall be singing "Music To Watch Girls By" all day.

ReplyDeleteFantastic shot! Not only is it technically flawless, the photo itself tells a story. Well done!
ReplyDeleteGreat capture! :-)
ReplyDeleteThose moments of returning to everyday life after vacation are always bittersweet, aren't they?
They seem to be more "studying" the two girls passing by than making plans about mathematics!..:o)
ReplyDeleteA beautiful picture again. Last time I forgot to mention A.Kertész. Also a photographer who surely influenced your work.
ReplyDeleteI've done that many a time. Nice photo Genie.
ReplyDeleteHere she comes just a walkin down the street, singing do wa di di di dum di di day!
ReplyDeleteWell observed.
ReplyDeleteWell timed shot Genie, and an excellent one too!
ReplyDeleteUniversal picture, right?
ReplyDeleteAs Alfred, Lord Tennyson, said, "In spring, a young man's fancy turns to thoughts of love." He obviously didn't live in Paris, where it doesn't have to be spring....
ReplyDeleteGreat shot, Genie. It seems everyone has "la Rentrée" on their minds today ;-) Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)

nice capture!
ReplyDeleteI don't understand why everyone loves black and white. I can't even begin to imagine living in a black and white world. How very boring.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely LOVE this picture!!! Have a lovely day!
ReplyDeleteLove, Kristin

ReplyDeleteJ'adore cette photo, où on lit toutes les pages du journal intime qu'écrit en secret l'adolescence.
ReplyDeleteBelle nuit

Ah oui—in Girl Watching 101, they'll all earn an A+!
ReplyDelete(As for your young French girl from yesterday: clearly, they're just born chic.)

ReplyDeleteGenie, this is a great photo. I'll repeat an old cliche - a picture is worth a thousand words.
