Between the Métro Cardinal Lemoine and Église Saint Etienne du Mont, we happened upon this bright fushia (rose foncé) building and sign. The style reminded me more of the signs seen in Zurich than in Paris, but the boulangerie definitely brightened up this intersection on Rue Monge. It is reported to have excellent baguettes.
(This is for Starman, who wanted to see some color)

Beautiful sign! J´aime bien le rose foncé! There are so many colours in Paris...
ReplyDeleteIhastuttava kyltti !
ReplyDeleteYou have "the big eye" to find all like these.
Greetings.
Love boutique signs... all of them! This one is particularly creative. You just reminded me I have to write a little story with some of the best photos of signs I brought back from my summer travels ;-) Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)

ReplyDeleteThis sign is so beautiful!I love the little details, as it would tell us its story.
ReplyDeleteLéia :)
It's a lovely sign. They disappeared for a few years but shop owners seem to have rediscovered them. Will try the baker, good bread is not that common these days! DB x
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful sign, Genie. I wonder if their flour is ground at a watermill and delivered by a man with a donkey.
ReplyDeleteI so miss Parisian bread!
Cute sign, will make you want to walk through the door... it's the small attention to detail that make a place memorable.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great find Genie, you certainly filled the 'criteria' for colour with this shot! Can just see glimpses at the side of the buildings in the same shade, fantastic!
ReplyDeleteThere's a lot happening on that sign! Sounds like it well represents the earnest nature of the bakers within. Very colourful indeed, Genie!
ReplyDeleteYou must have eyes everywhere to see this sign above your head and to watch your steps. A lovely the sign with the little figures.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sending Jane to me, we are having a busy correspondence about her trip to Amsterdam!
This sign looks like the ones we have in Provence, it even reminds me of a Xmas crib!
ReplyDeletehmmm....
ReplyDelete«Louis» missed this one. Being un boulanger-wannabe, he'd like to fly to Paris specifically to check this one out!
It certainly gets one's attention, which I guess is the whole point of hanging out a sign. Somehow, hot pink doesn't say "boulanger" to me.
ReplyDeleteThat color certainly grabs one's attention, doesn't it?
ReplyDeleteAnd I making bread, having this artisan boulanger around the corner :-)
ReplyDeleteI love the whimsy of this sign! So glad that you spotted it to share.
ReplyDeleteCheerful! I like it..
ReplyDeleteWhat a delightful find! Signage with so much attention to detail - love it.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Richard - it is the unique boutiques/artisans that make us linger in a place and enjoy it so much. Here in Charleston many such places have been put out of business by 'chain' stores. Quel dommage.
ReplyDeleteOoh La Laaa!
ReplyDeleteNothing beats a good baguette!
ReplyDeleteWhat a colorful, fun looking place! And Halcyon is right, nothing beats a good baguette! Another fun stroll through Paris, Genie!! Hope your week is going well!
ReplyDeleteHugs
Sylvia
I agree with the others Genie, great sign shot.....a good idea for a theme? Signs of Paris?
ReplyDeleteHave a good day!
I believe they know how to draw in the crowds. I wouldn't have expected to see that colorful sign in Paris.
ReplyDeleteI was in Zurich several years ago and loved it! Gorgeous city with great shopping.
Thank you for this colorful photo. Can everyone see what would be missing if this was in black and white?
ReplyDeleteFantastic shot! I like the focus here
ReplyDeleteQuelle belle enseigne!
ReplyDeleteHmmmm. Paris?
ReplyDeleteI love those types of signs and it's true they are very reminiscent of Switzerland. And Austria too.
ReplyDeleteYup, colourful all right. Certainly better than off-colour.
ReplyDeleteAnd you say the bread's good? Très bien! But do they have honey too?
You do such a great job with close-ups, Genie! Thanks, Starman, for the request!
ReplyDeleteThis does look a bit alpine-ish, I like it.
ReplyDeleteThere is definitely something magical in Paris that transforms everything - something happens to me when I arrive. I notice things in a way I never have. I love that you get this also. xx
ReplyDeleteI will definitely be looking for this on Rue Monge--it's so marvelous!
ReplyDeleteThe sign is great and thew color is spectacular—but what makes this photo foe me is the backdrop of building w/balcons! Love it.
ReplyDeleteOops. Tired = typos. :~{
ReplyDeleteIn Paris, on a corner, a busy intersection... this building REALLY stood out and begged to be photographed. There were two signs, one at each corner of this façade which took up the entire length of the "corner."
ReplyDeleteTheir website indicates they came in second in 2009 (or 2010?) in the "best baguette" in Paris designation. I learn so much when I post a photo. It scares me to think of what I might have missed.
Oh, I do have a favorite baguette and one that comes in second. Sadly, we did not know that we should have tried one here! Oh well, I must return!
Thank you for your wonderful comments today.
Bises,
Genie
So cute! I love this little sign. Did you buy anything?
ReplyDeleteNifty sign, wish I were there baking bread.
ReplyDeleteNice looking sign and I also like the building in the background!
