Église Saint-Étienne du Mont - l'orgue
The organ of Saint-Étienne du Mont is a marvel of architectural design and carving, dating back to the early 17th Century. It would be a challenge to count the cherubs and angels in this church, starting here with the organ. If you decide to count, do not forget to look at the ceiling for the little cherub faces.I have shown this church before, here and here. It is just across the square from the Parthenon in the 5ième arrondissement.Bon dimanche

I like the way those angels are: more like "adults" than cherubs. It gives them more power , it seems , and give us the feeling to be more protected..
ReplyDeleteBon dimanche!
What an awesome capture, Genie! And I agree with Malyss, the angels do indeed are more like adults than cherubs and with more power! Always look forward to your posts and what you have chosen to share with us for the day! Hope you've had a wonderful weekend so far, mon amie! Enjoy!

Magnifique....

Very beautiful picture Genie, I don't think I would even attempt to count the cherubs, but would love to sit and take it all in.
ReplyDeleteJe suis toujours impressionnée par les tubes des orgues dans les églises...
ReplyDeleteTrès jolie photo... je pourrais presque entendre le son de la musique.
Gros bisous.
I'll bet it sounds as beautiful as it looks, Genie.
ReplyDeleteI love the contrast between the curved arches and sharp lines of the organ pipes, also the way you've caught the coloured glow of the stained glass behind the centre angel.A powerful organ no doubt!
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely week Genie,
Bon dimanche,
Ruby
I bet the sound it produces is awesome. I love the sound of church organs. Great picture
ReplyDeleteI'm here dreaming about the music from this organ! It's beautiful and thanks for the close up!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous details!

All I can say is aaaahhhhhh!!! You captured the organ beautifully in every bit of its exquisite detail. I treasure every moment we spent in this gorgeous church and, like the others who have commented, would love to have an opportunity to hear the organs's music. Bon dimanche ma chère amie!!
ReplyDeleteOoooh, that's great! I love organ music, I've got a friend (a girl :) ), she often concertizes in our cathedral :) And I often go there to hear her playing :)
ReplyDeleteI love this church too Genie. I have found it closed more often than open t hough.
ReplyDeleteThis is wonderful on many levels, Genie. The verticality of the pipes, the contrasts with the brown cherubs, the arches, the stained glass, the paneling . . . just the overall feeling of grandeur and serenity at the same time.
ReplyDeleteA jewel of art. The cherub faces change the silence, the environment, the essence of the place into a sacred space.

What a beautiful shot for a Sunday! Thanks, babe. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI can hear it now! And I love the way you captured the light reflecting off the pipes. Thanks for this one, Genie!
ReplyDeleteCrikey Cadel indeed! A big thing for Australia. We were all up very late last night.
ReplyDeleteAnd yet another gorgeous church. I'm more convinced that every church in the centre of Paris is worth seeing.
