  2. That is beautiful. I think it's the one we saw in Paris, so many years ago.

  7. How gorgeous, Genie, especially with la Tour in the background! I'd want to ride this at least three times so I could experience a carriage, a horse and say, is that a hot air balloon? Too hard to choose...

  8. Moi, aussi - are you laughing at my high school French? That's about all I remember.

  9. And you captured both beautifully! Love ET in the corner background ... it just reminds you that it is apart of most things Parisian. Ready to go back?

  10. Great composition, Gennie. Those 'chairs' on the carrousel are so unusual.

Joanne has posted a great shot of Kapoor's 'monster' in Paris on her INSPIRATION blog. I think you might like to check it: http://joannegatefield.blogspot.com/2011/06/anish-kapoor-leviathan-2011.html

  13. Hmmm, not sure I share your enthusiasm Genie, the tower would make me giddy (it did...) and the Carousel dizzy! Great shot though!

  18. I love carrousels--this is one of my favorites. My favorite is the one here in Santa Cruz CA--it is celebrating 100 years of being in place on the boardwalk (August 2011). Thanks for sharing all your wonderful jpictures.

  19. Thanks, Genie! I just love a carrousel with a view (and what a view!), don't you? (I know—you love them all!)

  20. It's a wonderful photo to show both of your "favorites." I know a great deal of the background of La Tour Efffel, but very little of the history of Parisian Caroussels. Now I'll be on a hunt for it. We have several here, one which I"ve posted ad you have commented on...but there's another in Como Park that I should photograph...just for you!

  24. Nice composition, Genie. Where did you get your appreciation for carrousels?

  25. It thrills me to read of your appreciation of "my" carousels and it is difficult to select a favorite. I think we all return to our childhood in the shadow of a carousel.

Kate, I am collecting links and stories about them and have toyed with a book about carousels of France (and all of Europe peut être?) but I must do more research first (hehe)

Shane, you can be a little girl again with just a single revolution...

I hope that I never take one of these for granted.

    Bisous,
    Genie

  27. How neat!! I can almost hear the carousel music -- and right in view of the tower.

  28. Merveilleuse photo!
J'adore ces vieux carrousels! Tellement plus jolis et romantiques que les nouveaux manèges!

  29. Only if you make sure to enjoy popcorn from the vendor that hangs out there for the children. Your blog is just phenomenal. Thank you for such wonderful photos. Memories and desires of returning are evoked very strongly as I thumb through your photos.
