If you have been visiting my blog regularly, you know that Église Saint Roch holds a place in my heart. It is the first thing you see when you wake up each morning from Janeen's apartment and hear the pealing of the church bells.
When Marie and I were in Paris in April, we entered the church just before the evening Palm Sunday service. I knew that there were two organs in St Roch but to my surprise we discovered the third, a small organ contained in a large cabinet. The organist opened the doors of the organ to release the full sound in the circular space of the apse.
I felt as if we had discovered a treasure.

What a great feeling it must have been to think you discovered a true treasure.. and maybe you did... how many people know about these three organs in St Roch?
ReplyDeleteTreasure or not, I think the picture is magnificent ... even though you do not see the face of the organist, it is true, as Rob-bear says, that you can sense his concentration through your capture, a sign of your photographic skills.
Bon dimanche de Bruxelles

This photo has a very peaceful feeling to it.
ReplyDeleteIt truly was a treasured discovery! And how delightful to hear him playing familiar hymns on Palm Sunday! I will always treasure our time of worship there. Bon dimanche!
ReplyDeleteAh! «Louis» did not know about the third organ in St. Roch. He agrees with you that this church is a gem. He remembers walking down rue Saint-Honoré and peering into the church during a wedding. The couple was to leave in a restored Citroën Traction-Avant waiting for them on the street.
ReplyDeleteOh how beautiful to hear the sounds of the hidden music.
ReplyDeleteYes, you DID discover quite a treasure! And trust that romantic Louis la Vache to come upon a wedding and notice the car waiting to whisk the bride and groom away. :~}
ReplyDeleteWhen you complete a place with your own discoveries, it is even more rewarding, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteWhat a treasure indeed. Wonderful perspective.
ReplyDeleteThis photo holds so much atmosphere I can't stop looking at it! Have a great new week!
