This quiet street in the Bastille area is a mixture of shops and restaurants, all with apartments above. The flower-boxes give a gentle nature to this narrow Rue de Lappe.
Bonjour, I know you did not take this delightful photo during our recent trip since our Paris skies were blue, blu, bloo (to quote our dear friend Janeen)! What an amazing time we had! Merci ma cher amie ... Bises, M
What a beautiful contrast between the red and pink flowers on one side of the building and the red and orange door frames across the street. Will be looking forward to visiting Paris through your new pictures. Welcome back and hoping you had a wonderful time!
I adore the Bastille area. I once lived in the Republique area, and going to the Sunday Bastille market was a joy. The next time I got to Paris (this winter we're thinking!), I hope to stay in Bastille or just east. It's got a lovely workers-village feel.
European cities do so much more with flower boxes. I think I'll add lots of red geraniums to my back yard this year. What brighteners to the street in your photo!
To all -- It is a "day later" and I am responding in my woozy, tired state. I cannot believe that I missed you, Miss Belgium! Malyss, I do not know that song but am going to find it on the internet. Marie is correct! There was not a single cloud or rainy day in Paris this trip. I am marking April/avril as a fabulous month for Paris... Well, if you were to look at my calendar you would see that all the months are marked that way (except August)!
Jeanne, thank you for your comments and I hope that you will find some inspiration here for your next Paris trip!
I was sooo excited to see our friend Janeen in your Paris photos. Janeen was the officiant at our daughter's wedding, and aunt of the maid of honor. My husband and I rented a flat in Paris a few years ago, and I was delighted to see some of the street scences near and dear to our hearts. I'm putting your blog on my "favorites" list. Merci!
