As is typical of the grand churches of Paris there are many details to enjoy in every corner of Saint-Germain l'Auxerrois. I brought you here previously to see the exterior and we will come back for more details of this beautiful church.
Bon dimanche
Beautiful. Thanks for sharing this and all of your other pictures.
ReplyDeleteI've missed a wonderful week of photos! Bravo! My favourites have to be the Palais Garnier and the Passage St Roch. Happy Sunday!
ReplyDeleteI love the way you walk into a Paris church and see so many things that most people probably miss. These cherubs are precious.
ReplyDeleteAs we noted on our first trip to Paris, many cherubs look so much like our Davis! The center of this trio could have been him as a toddler. Great shot.

Good shot! Love these cherubs..the back 2 are curious as to what is going on up at the top and the front is praising the almighty and thinking lets go home for lunch! The sculptor did a good job with the expressions.
ReplyDeleteI look at this and hear "Little children praise you perfectly, and so should we". Merci for this wonderfully different image to focus us on God.
ReplyDeleteC'est très, très bien, Genie. Comme toujours. You have such a good eye for interesting subjects, and the play of light and shadow.
ReplyDeleteEt bon dimanche.
Bon dimanche, madame.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful picture of these tender and delicious little angels.
ReplyDeleteRichard -- Merci, mon ami... c'est vrai.
ReplyDeleteBill -- Merci, my friend
Ciel -- So glad that you went back to review the photos, my friend! Glad to see you here and have a wonderful Sunday also!
Alexa -- I am always amazed at just how many beautiful works of are are seen in the Paris churches. Paris has had several rough patches in her history and it is wonderful to see all that was spared for future generations... merci, mon amie!
Virginia -- I love the chubby little hands and legs along with the dimpled elbows... adorable
Jeanne -- I agree with you totally, and think that the sculpure had a good understanding of the child's physique
Marie -- Beautiful thoughts and a wonderful message
Miss Sadie -- Merci... Holly and I liked the contrast between the white marble statues and the dark background.
Starman -- Merci et à toi aussi!
Leovi -- Merci, mon ami.
I vacillate between thinking this is cute and thinking it is spiritual. Children or cherubs. I guess it is both.
ReplyDeleteJack -- I would definitely agree... the cherubs are appealing for their innocence... the underlying significance is spiritual... Hope that you have a great week ahead.
ReplyDeleteThey really are angelic looking. One of many details inside of this beautiful church. Wishing you good week.
