Il est charmant, Genie! I agree with Malyss—and do you suppose he's there for his morning coffee no matter what the weather is like? I'd like to think so, actually.
Richard -- Oui, et de temps en temps il y a un photographe dans les ombres comme moi!
Léia -- It was cold and I am with you on liking the coffee.
Diane -- He was quite stylish
Samantha -- If I were not such a stealth photographer, I would have hung around and checked it out.
Dianne -- Dapper, indeed, and the water glasses are always the same.
Malyss -- There were seats inside but he seemed to prefer being out on the terrasse... Merci!
Marie -- Merci, mon amie... Perhaps pastries for the rest of his family? Je ne sais pas.
Virginia -- Merci, the colors were good, but the b/w makes the portrait
Lala -- I would love one also... I guess that it is good for my health that I do not get to eat croissants every day... Merci
Miss Sadie -- He does look relaxed and no, he did not see me... I am quick with my trigger finger
Click -- That is my café of choice also... café au lait, miam-miam
kathrin -- Merci, mon amie... you are so kind
Alexa -- I think so... I love to imagine the stories of the people I photograph... He had such a kind face and I think that he was alone that morning...
Rob and Mandy -- Parigot... I wonder why I've never run into that word before, but I will be using it now... Merci!
Loree -- I really do hate to disturb a stranger when they are at a table, but would have loved to talk with him
Halcyon -- Well, now you know my style and my tricks, hehehe
Starman -- This was near a market and perhaps it was a purchase
Sasha -- Tu as raison, mon amie! Il était trobooogosse!
Jack -- Hummmm... Now that would be a disappointment. Here I am photographing un vrai parigot and would have been very sad had he been from Mobile... Had he really been from Mobile, he would not have owned a warm coat comme ça.
Sara Louise -- I wondered if he was truly French, but I did not think that he was from the US
Carol -- Charming and quite proper... Merci
Julie -- So glad that the photographer agrees with the B/W... Merci, mon amie
Kate -- I have, but many strangers do not want to talk to the American nut with a camera... Certainly there are those with whom I have forged a business relationship such as the girl in the boulangerie
James -- And I would hope that he finds this a flattering portrait
Would've spewed on the computer if I'd been drinking my cafe au lait reading Jack's comment!!! Don't think he's from Mobile...the hat just doesn't speak of 'Bama!!! He is delightful, as is the photo, and yes...fab in B&W!!!
Love the photo Genie - so much so that I printed it out and am taking it to my writing group - the challenge is to write 500 words on 'what is in the package'!!
Haddock -- I think that it just cried for b/w... glad that you agree. Merci
Me -- I can smell that coffee and even the bread which is what I think he has in that package... Merci
Chieftess -- Yes, you are going to have to help me keep Jack under control... I think that he is getting me back for all the "snow" comments I make to him... Glad that you like the b/w for this shot, mon amie!
Vicki -- I would have loved to sat with him and talked but I generally have better manners (unless, of course, invited - hehe)
Gringo -- You will have to tell me how this turned out... I think that he had been shopping in the nearby market and that the bag contains either bread or produce
Eh oui, Genie, une vue typiquement parisienne comme on peut voir souvent dans les bistrots.

ReplyDeleteWonder what's in the bag?
ReplyDeleteLes hommes francais sont adorables!
ReplyDeleteWe are all seeing this as a typically French scene, aren't we? I'll bet he is from Mobile and just arrived from the airport.
ReplyDeleteI love captured moments like this!

Randy -- I love them when I don't get caught or fussed at for being the American photographer - hah! Merci...
ReplyDeleteHe looks cold! But I do like his little hat :-)
ReplyDeleteSo charming!
ReplyDeleteAlone but probably not lonely. This is a terrific portrait, the better for being converted.
ReplyDeleteWonderful portrait, esp in monochrome. Do you ever send photos to the subjects?
ReplyDeleteI bet he had no idea that people all over the world would be joining him thanks to your wonderful photo. :)
