This young woman was alone in Jardin du Palais Royal, sitting quietly on the park bench, no acknowledgement of our presence or of others scattered throughout the park. Was she in deep contemplation, waiting for a friend? When we walked past this spot several hours later she was gone, no visible evidence of her time spent on the bench.

Genie: She was contemplating the existential nature of the Universal Reality.
ReplyDeleteGreat picture, btw.
Paris is a great place for contemplation....
ReplyDeleteA bench is a pretty and perfect place to get lost into one's own thoughts..
ReplyDeleteIn her mind she is probably saying "I'm going to just sit here and ignore that woman with the camera:)"
ReplyDeleteInteresting b/w subject here.
ReplyDeleteMiss Sadie -- She did appear to be deep in thought so you may be right on target
ReplyDeleteBibi -- Yes, and there is so much to contemplate in those amazing surroundings
Malyss -- In Paris, it is quite acceptable to pause on a bench for no particular reason... when I am there the time is so short that it is hard to "just sit"
Andy -- Actually, I am not sure that she saw me as I came up from behind her
Birdman -- Merci, mon ami
Wonderful Genie, great atmosphere.
ReplyDeleteParis...the special place where we see beautiful and special girls! This picture is wonderful dear Genie!
ReplyDeleteLéia
This garden is one of my favorite haunts for shots like this one. I love composition G.

Carol -- Merci, mon artiste peintre
ReplyDeleteLéia -- Before long the warmer days will make this bench more inviting! Merci, mes amis!
Virginia -- Yes, and on this day Peter, Holly and I almost were locked in the garden!
My personal interpretation is that she had earplugs and a flow of music through her head.
ReplyDeleteGreat composition - seeing her profile through the branches. Love the curve and the circles of the bench.
ReplyDeleteNathalie -- I think you are spot-on! I have never seen so many white cords and earbuds as in Paris though I imagine that the subways in all major cities have made this "look" a necessity. Merci!
ReplyDeleteHarriet -- Thank you... Although the photo does not really show this, it was frigid that day... She has several layers of clothing and thankfully the bench was wood, not metal... brrrrr!
Well said, Andy!
ReplyDeleteThis is a gorgeous picture. It makes you wonder what she is thinking ...

Who knows what she was thinking about. I get lost in thought like that sometimes.
ReplyDeleteWonderful shot. I love scenes like this.
ReplyDeletean incredible photograph and narrative. was she anxious about a pending meeting, taking a short break or did she just get some news that she might eventually be thrilled with? so inspirational! your work pleases me so much.
ReplyDelete"Hmmm, I'm getting hungry and cold. Maybe I'll go get some macarons and a chocolat chaud." Ah, the things one can contemplate in Paris! Great shot, Genie.
ReplyDelete(I kid you not: my WV is "conne." I'm sure she isn't one.)
She probably didn't have any big plans or big thoughts; just thought sitting for a bit would be her next best option.
ReplyDeleteThx again for visiting today and for your kind comments. I expect that today's fountain just might be shown in other seasons. So, what was a Southern belle Francophile doing flying into Hartford?
I think she was taking in all the beauty of the day. Wonderful photo.
ReplyDeleteMiss Sadie -- So glad to see you out and about, Miss Sadie... Give my regards to Bear
ReplyDeleteBonnie -- I wonder how fashionable she is... like the boots and the bag!
Loree -- Perhaps she was waiting on a friend... there were some children playing in the frozen fountain...
Halcyon -- Merci, mon amie.
Suz -- I can tell that you are going to help me out from time to time as I wonder about these things... I just remember that she was very still...
Alexa -- Now that's an idea! However, I do not believe that French girls sit around thinking about macarons... They would just go get some! (Stay warm in your snow!)
Jack -- The Southern belle Francophile had a client in East Hartford and enjoyed that northern clime and your beautiful historic city... bat, bat, flutter, flutter
Randy -- Merci, my friend
ReplyDeleteI am lost in thought looking at all of your wonderful posts! Oh, to dream of a trip....I'm SO ready! ♥
ReplyDeleteWonder for whom she was waiting?
ReplyDeleteNice shot!!!
