Oh my! This was our first stop after arriving in Paris...
Can you blame us? The windows of Printemps and Galaries Lafayette were calling....
and I caught the first snowflake on the tip of my tongue... what a moment!
For more reflections go to James' Newtown Area Photo.
You don't waste any time, do you? :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful holiday ~ to be able to see the soft dusting of snowflakes and all those pretty Christmas lights - Magical!!

Catching a Paris snowflake on your tongue does sound like something special!
ReplyDeleteBibi -- I wanted to get there before the weekend crowds. With the cold and the snow it was not a problem!
ReplyDeleteDianne -- Yes, that day there was a "dusting" of snow, but it was just the prelude of what was to come!
Shell -- "See snow in Paris" and "catch a Paris snowflake" were two things on my list.... √ check and √ check.
Bonjour! We did well to go then, as when I returned on Wednesday with John it was VERY crowded! The "big" snow was wonderful - I will email you photos tonight, and I really missed having you there with me! Looking forward to returning again soon.....
ReplyDeleteI love those lights! I remember looking at them up close last year..oh the Christmas memories :)
ReplyDeleteHave a wonerful time
Oh I just got chills thinking about it all. Nice shot, got that Metro sign just perfect! :)
ReplyDeleteBienvenue Holly and John!

oh Genie, how lucky you are!
ReplyDeleteI'm envious here! :)
Beautiful coloured lights!
Léia
Paris, Christmas and lights make a fabulous cocktail!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like a beautiful moment. I really like this photo. I took three shots of almost the same spot but they were all blurry. :(
ReplyDeleteWonderful Christmas photo! Hi. ***waves from Toulouse*** I found you on Keith's blog!
ReplyDeleteI can't blame you at all—but i CAN thank you for sharing! So, does a Parisian snowflake taste better than an ordinary old American one? :~}
ReplyDeleteFantastic, Genie! And, yes! Thanks for sharing the excitement, the fun! Marvelous reflection and what could taste better than a Parisian snowflake??? Enjoy your weekend! Stay warm!
ReplyDeleteSylvia
And you didn't make it to Versailles? Honestly... :-)I gather you had a great time with Laurent!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you picked a perfect time to go. Lovely lights. Your header is goegeous too. How do the boaters get from their boat to the sidewalk? Do they cross each others boats I wonder?
ReplyDeleteDelightful photo Genie!!! Glad you're having a marvelous time! For me, Christmas is sparkly and magical, and this shot has it all!!!
ReplyDeleteAh...Paris dressed up for Christmas...it doesn't get any better than that! Great shot...:)
ReplyDeleteLes magasins do lights very good.
ReplyDeleteShinny shot ! I like the happyness that those lights brings to us...
ReplyDeleteNo i cannot blame you --- wishing you a beautiful time x

ReplyDeleteBeautiful. So colorful.
ReplyDeleteWow that is festive looking. Hope you had a good time.
ReplyDeletebeautiful lights!!
ReplyDeletethey make me smile
I' love a metro like that :-)
ReplyDeleteTell me, can one still shop in Paris?
ReplyDeleteI love this shot! Virginia is right : with the metro sign, it's perfect!
ReplyDeleteHolly -- So glad that you survived the snow storm and are home safely (to plan our next trip!)
ReplyDeleteBrittany -- The lights and decorations are abundant
Virginia -- I still am not sure how the Metro is so close to the awnings, but glad ;-)
Léia -- Oh, but you live in a Christmas wonderland too.
Malyss -- I drank as much of it as I could and walked my legs off trying to take it all in.
James -- Well, I have plenty of shots that hit the scrap heap also.
Samantha -- Merci!
Alexa -- I do not have the opportunity to taste many snowflakes but the one in Paris? Miam-miam!
Sylvia -- Merci et bon weekend à toi.
Ciel -- The trip was too short but I need to visit Versailles again... perhaps in the spring? It was great to meet Laurent face-to-face
Lorac -- I have lived on a coast for most of my life and had a sailboat moored in a tiny harbor. During bad weather others would squeeze into the protected harbor and walk across the regulars... all acceptable there but not sure about Paris.
Chieftess -- The lights and colors and activity make you feel like a child again.
Imagination -- The lights really bring life to the sometimes gray skies of Paris in winter.
Starman -- As do most of the small neighborhoods and little shops
'Tsuki -- Merci, mon amie.
Suzi -- Merci, and thinking of you
Armchair -- I saved some snowflakes for you...
Yogi -- Merci ♪♫
Randy -- It was fabulous and I hope that you are planning to get there...
Dianne -- Right about the time I took this shot I had a grin from ear to ear... looked totally like a tourist with a big camera...
Oh, les grands magasins parisiens présentent toujours des beaux reflets :)
ReplyDeleteLovely, I like the lights and elegant Metro sign!
ReplyDeleteno i definitely cant blame you...lafayette and printemps are really working hard these days :D
ReplyDeleteenjoy your shopping♫

ReplyDeleteOh, how we loved the windows of Printemps when my brother and I were little, living just outside of Paris. I remember one window of a ski scene with barbie dolls set up on the slopes wearing tiny parkas and pom-pom hats. I couldn't tear myself away from it!
ReplyDeletePeace,
Gina
How FESTIVE!
ReplyDeleteNow that is a sure sign you are someplace special! Those lights sure have a way of drawing you into the magic.
ReplyDeleteLovely!
