Jardin des Tuileries... la neige

And the snow came, just as I had wished for in Paris!

We saw snowmen and snowball fights... We saw bundled little children and les chiens in their sweaters... The cold air makes your face sting and the Christmas lights make your eyes shine brightly...

I loved it all!

  1. This is a wonderful picture! I'm glad you enjoyed your stay in Paris. On the news, they said it hadn't snowed like this for 25 years!

  6. How lucky for us that you were there to capture it so beautifully! The color, the framing, the people in exactly the right spot . . . perfect.

  7. Absolutely parfait!! Makes me think of red velvet cake -- the leaves are the cake and the snow is the frosting. Just a beautiful photo -- wish I was one of those people walking on the path. Welcome home!

  11. What a wonderful image.

Do however fail to see this fixation with the bloody white stuff - http://youmustbefromaway.blogspot.com/

    Virginia. Probably hormones, dear...

  12. I like the way the reds stand out from a nearly monochrome shot, the tree bark lets us realize that the exposure is correct, and that the Louvre's roof is correctly exposed at that distance. I like the chimneys and highest roof being off centre and everything being partially framed by the limestone arch.

  13. What a beautiful scene! I love the trees, the snow, the people, everything! I think my last trip was the first time that it didn't snow at all while I was there.

  18. o2 -- It was just beautiful and I'm glad that I could be there for the historic event!

Tina -- Well, Virginia is already wishing and hoping so I imagine that you will have some snow

Bibi -- Merci... maybe you'll have snow when you visit after the first of the year...

Malyss -- Merci... it did seem picturesque...

Birdman -- Thanks! After seeing all the snow I was a little sad that I did not get a "total white-out" shot...

    Alexa -- Many thanks, friend.

Marie -- You always have the nicest things to say... I do love red velvet cake!

Tammy -- A very chilly dream...

Léia -- Thanks for noticing the frame... It is funny that it is still technically "autumn" but it sure felt like winter!

Nina -- Many thanks... I am going to check in on you...

Virginia -- Well, the wind really would bring tears to your eyes!

JB -- Ah, yes, the great day of cancelled flights...

Evan -- Well, you make a good case for a nice photo, and I appreciate all the details you have noted. Merci!

James -- Well, this was the first time I had seen snow in Paris... ever! I think that this was my 4th (or 5th?) December visit and the first with snow.

Starman -- You should plan a trip in the winter!

Loree -- It was very dreamy as it floated down and quickly coated everything. (These comments coming from a Southern girl who lives in a place without snow)

Picturit -- From the "picture-master" I consider that a very nice comment!

Bear -- Merci... I know that bears love the snow and I found a life-sized bear in Paris... hope that the photo is good

  19. What a perfect Christmas shot! The red leaves against that snow white...it's really dreamy.

Ps. Desicated coconut for the white rocky road is very finely shredded coconut. Look for it in your baking aisle in the supermarket and there will be bags saying 'shredded coconut' or 'desicated.' Although, you could easily use shredded which is slightly thicker and chewier.

  20. Brittany -- Merci! Glad to know that it is not "desecrated" coconut... hehe

  21. So unusual to see the Tuileries nearly empty! And what a treat to see snow that actually sticks in Paris! Looks like you had a fabulous time...

  24. Pretty but a little bit sad - like on the first day of some holidays when everyone is sitting home, spending time with families and outside only lonely people
