On a side street in the 5ième, these riding toys made a tantalizing reflection on the rain-slick sidewalk. During the holiday season, children's toys fill the windows and sometimes spill out onto the street.

Oh, so pretty and old-fashioned (I man that in a positive way, since now there seem to be batteries in kids' cars....let 'em use their muscles!)
ReplyDeleteGenie, your photo is out of the ordinary. It even put a smile on face.
ReplyDeleteSanta has just noted these designs and put his Elves to work, Genie.
ReplyDeleteFrench elves do good work! I lOVE this shot Genie. Wished I'd been at your elbow.

ReplyDeleteThe light reflection adds to the beautyful nostalgic feeling..
ReplyDeleteDianne - Merci! I had the pink one picked out as my favorite, too! Wouldn't a little girl love that from Santa!

Andy -- Merci, and glad that it made you smile
Shell -- Time is marching on and those Elves better get busy!
Virginia -- I wish you had been there too! War Eagle! Going to be tough in a Tide camp...
Leia -- There were two stacks of these little vehicles. I may post the other with a different angle on another day. Glad you liked them!
Loree -- Merci, mon amie!
Malyss -- These are truly nostalgic toys. Merci!
ReplyDeleteDear Genie,
ReplyDeletethese toy-cars are great! My husband always wanted to buy one like that for our young son, but now he´s already 4 and a ´big´ guy with an own bike :)
Great picture and colours!!
Thank you very much for your kind words and warm understanding concerning the passing-away of my dad. It makes me grateful to know that people in the bloggerworld feel concerned about others, that´s beautiful!
All the best to you and greetings, Marjolijn
Marjolijn -- The holidays always magnify our expectations, our joys and our disappointments. With your recent loss there will be much emotion. Glad that others have reached out to you.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the age of four... it becomes fourteen all too soon!

How delightful! I love the cars, they look like ones we had years ago and are -- to me, so much cuter that some of the ones now! And what a great reflection they make! Hope you have a lovely weekend, Genie!
ReplyDeleteSylvia
I was so fascinated by the pink one - it really made a difference.
ReplyDeleteAdorables ; ces voitures sont tout simplement adorables ! Et j'aime la façon dont leur reflet sur brouille sur le trottoir qui sèche... Bravo !
ReplyDeleteThis is just a charming photo! It takes me back to earlier times and the way Christmas used to be...a lovely post!

'Tsuki -- Merci...je l'aime bien aussi.
imaginationlane -- I totally agree!
I want the red convertible. Saw your comment on V's blog. The Grand Roue is great for some fantastic photos. BTW: here's something you might want to check while you're there... http://tiny.cc/l3por
ReplyDeleteVery nice, Genie. I also went back for a week or so to catch up with you. You have been seeing good things despite uncooperative weather, haven't you? Enjoy the weekend.
ReplyDeleteLovely shot! These colorful toys on the old street make up a nice composition.

The cars have been beautifully stacked one above the other.
ReplyDeleteI remember these - and dommage that the adorable fire truck or convertible won't fit in the carry on to bring back home for Brooks - he would LOVE them! Not much longer to wait.....
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo. Truly. I love all your Paris photos. Reminds me of when as a child we lived in Courbevoie.

The Pagan's Eye
The pink one really stands out and the reflections are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThose are great. I like them so much better than the newer models that are out now.
ReplyDeleteClever shot! I love just the hint of a reflection on the sidewalk. These cars look like fun for the little ones... it's nice to see non-plastic toys.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen such a display. Great find, really cool!
ReplyDeleteThree red cars … and a red light !
ReplyDeleteDo you think I could rent one for a few days to get around Paris on ?
ReplyDeleteFaster than walking !
Imagine recieving one of those as a child for Christmas! What a delight.
ReplyDeleteRajesh -- And there was another stack with red, yellow and orange... one had a lightening bolt!
ReplyDeleteHolly -- We'll check to see what they are showing this year.
Gina -- Merci, and I am glad that the photos bring back good memories. Visit often, mon amie!
Woody -- Well, the truth be told, the little reflection is subtle and not of the magnitude of the one you posted this week!
Randy -- I think that the style appeals to most of us who are not teenagers searching for the "hottest" skate board.
Lizziviggi -- I agree with the "non-plastic" comment. Merci for your visit!
JM -- Merci! It was a great little discovery on a side street...
Sar@h -- What a great eye you have! I had totally missed the redlight...
Owen -- It might be a bit of a tight squeeze. Why don't we get skateboards or roller skates - hah!
Brittany -- Every now and then you can find these through catalogues in the US but they are usually more costly than the more cheaply made plastic riding toys... tant pis
