Marché rue Cler -- des legumes

Fresh fall vegetables on Rue Cler....

After a week (eating) in San Diego followed up with a week (eating) in New Orleans, I thought it would be better to go for the vegetables rather than the macarons. Okay, so I am stoic!

(but I'll be back on the pâtisseries et les macarons soon -- miam-miam!)

  1. Oh they're so pretty! They look beautiful against the fresh green. They remind me of the little bobbers I had on my fishing pole when I was a kid.

  2. I would have thought they're summer veggies, but never mind! They look delicious, and I want one...

  3. You know...I'm always confused when I need to shop vegetables here.I need to know "that french names"by heart, and I got confused sometimes! ;)
But I don't know some vegetable names in Portuguese either, so... LOL

  4. Miam-miam, Genie! I, too, was ready for some simpler meals after the past two weeks. Love the color layers.

  6. Non, non, Virginia -- un peu d'huile d'olive mais pas de beurre
-- we are trying to eat light :-) Although the beurre sounds delicious!

  7. Are those radishes? They look pretty whatever they are.

  8. Gorgeous! Like Virginia, I'm having mine with fleur de sel and some good French butter. (Unlike you, not stoic.) Miam!

  9. Super colors and focus work, Genie. Makes these almost look good enough to eat, and I hate radishes!

  13. Liz -- They do look like those red and white plastic "corks" -- I have not thought about them in a very long time!

Bibi -- Moi aussi, but this photo was taken around the first of December last year. Radishes may be a cool weather plant. ??

Léia -- In English they are radishes, en français ils sont les radis, and in Portuguese "rabanete" -- je crois. Come on over and I'll prepare the salad!

M -- Miam-miam, indeed. Had it not been for your stoic application of "healthy eating" I would have gained a ton! Merci, mon amie.

Shell -- I think that these are a prettier shape than what we see in our markets. I wish that someone would keep my fridge stocked with "ready-to-eat" healthy veggies!

    Virginia -- Oui, peut-être.

Loree -- They are radishes and I'll bet they are tasty, too.

Alexa -- Well, a little butter is not bad at all.

Paul -- You are funny -- When you put them in a salad they just add a bit of zing!

JM -- rabanete -- If my look-up was correct. Merci.

Starman -- Glad to hear that you have returned from your extended vacation.

Randy -- I think that they are readily available for purchase and not too pricey!

  14. Genie, just think of it as balancing your diet — American + français. Balanced diets are good!

Well, it seemed like a reasonable thought when it first came to my mind. Mais …
