Jardin des Tuileries
"Abandoned"
If you are not familiar with this popular and historied Paris garden
the photo above might appear as just a "park photo."
This shot was made on the day after the November 13, 2015
terrorist attacks.
On this beautiful, crisp November Saturday, the
garden was closed, an eerie sight. On a typical weekend,
you would not see any empty green chairs, and the paths would be
filled with families, children, couples, and people enjoying life.

Good idea for a theme day shot but seriously eerie.

Genie, what a brilliant concept. I didn't realize (or at least didn't remember) that you were in Paris at the time of the attacks. That must have been traumatic.
ReplyDeleteWhat a poignant reminder of that horrific event!
ReplyDeleteSeeing this photo and knowing the context....it highlights the very real impact of terrorists -- scaring people into changing their behavior. Who would have thought, the day before, that people would be too terrified to visit this popular park? We're living a different world now. Good interpretation for theme day.
ReplyDeleteParis was definitely grieving on that day - a lack of people in this beautiful park says it all.
ReplyDeleteSobering.
ReplyDeleteNobody there? Closed? Almost impossible!
ReplyDeleteAppropriate for the theme, and sobering.
