Cathédrale Notre Dame de Paris

This eastern facade of Notre Dame
is not the image of the postcards and souvenir shops,
but its graceful Gothic architecture is beautiful.

The garden is much quieter than the western side
and a lovely place to sit in the shade of the trees and
watch the children play.

bon dimanche

  2. I, too, love this side of the Cathedral. My favorite glance is the clock on the left side of the roof. And it tells good time. And hidden behind the big tree on the right side is the loveliest Toilette building. The walls of which look like trees growing in the building. OK, it's not so pretty inside but it's great to know it's there.....
The garden you see is so very peaceful.

  3. It's a great view, though. I'd love to get in there myself.

  4. I love this side of Notre Dame so very much more than the front -- so graceful, quieter, more elegant. And the view is quite wonderful. Whenever I see this view, almost before I see Notre Dame I see the Holocaust memorial -- one of my most moving and emotional spots to visit in Paris. I look at that window grate and think of all the crystals under the ground, within, honoring the Holocaust victims. It seems right that this lovely, austere and simple memorial is in the shadow of this magnificent structure.
