Saint Pierre de Montmartre
Built on the site of a Roman temple and a 7th century Merovingian church,
Saint Pierre de Montmartre was consecrated in 1147
and is one of the oldest churches in Paris.
When all of Montmartre is crowded,
Saint Pierre offers a quiet and cool respite
with shadows and architectural details to discover.

That stained glass just beacons people to come rest a spell.
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful. I suppose being in the shadow of Sacre Coeur makes it less of a draw for visitors but it strikes me that it would or should be more likely to draw people in for a moment of quiet reflection or a moment of respite for the feet.
ReplyDeleteI was glad to escape the crowds by ducking into this beautiful little church with you, ma chère.
ReplyDeleteA very peaceful place.
