The Gates of Parc Monceau
Gabriel Davioud (1824-1881) was given the job
of creating the monumental entrances for this quiet park on boulevard de Courcelles
with the imposing gilded wrought iron gates.
The details have been meticulously maintained,
and reflect the afternoon sun.

C'est très bien. Les portes son magnifiques!
Wow .. do you think Gabriel Davioud would take a commission from me in Melbourne :-)
I imagine maintaining these has been a monumental task as well.
Beautiful! For your readers who pay a visit to the Park de Monceau, they might also want to visit the Musée Jaquemart-André and the Musée Nissim de Camondo which are nearby.
They are gorgeous. And your shot is beautifully composed, Genie.
What a gorgeous gate!
Lovely details.
Genie, this picture is a true gift of harmony and as usually, another lesson from you about the importance to learn to observe details. Thank you, for bringing them to our eyes and giving us this joy. The rendering of colors is superb!
The same comment but written with golden capitals for your detailed picture for Easter Day.
Merci, petit ours et bienvenue encore!
Joe, it would be fun to have a copy, but perhaps just a sketch and a photo to remember this wonderful park.
Harriet, you are right! If you walk from Métro St. Philippe de Roule, you can make a stop off at Musée Jaquemart-André (and have an elegant déjeuner) and walk into the park through rue Rembrandt you will have a feel for the magnificent homes surrounding Monceau. In addition to the grand entrance gates seen above, there are four more sets around the park. Great suggestions, Harriet!
Alexa, William, Randy - I wish that we could all take a walk or run around this park.
Danar O, you would love this park. It is brimming with details and surprises.
Bises,
Genie
