Petit Palais - Grand Palais

Petit Palais
Eclectic

From the courtyard of the Petit Palais,
you can catch a glimpse of the Grand Palais
and the ornate gold ironwork at the 'Petit's' entrance.

The reflections are of the beautiful and quiet garden courtyard,
a quiet oasis in the busy city of Paris.

  1. Hello Genie,

This is a fascinating study of reflections reflecting still more reflections. It gives the whole a rather dreamlike quality, perhaps reflecting the atmosphere as well as the architecture.

  3. Fantastic shot! I love the reflections, but also the mix of straight lines and curvy ones.

  7. Robyn, mine too. The Petit Palais used to have the best gift shop, but my recent visits left us lacking. The courtyard is one of my favorite places.

Danar, the many layers of glass and diffused sunlight helped soften the green of the Grand Palais. (Nice to see you again!)

Joe, I wish that Alexa and I had been there just a few weeks later and we could have met you two.

Alexa, great architecture and a very nice lunch, too.

s.c., you would love the architectural details throughout the Petit Palais. I will show more next week.

Dear Jane and Lance, you two above all would love this Petit Palais. Although the Grand Palais dwarfs it, there is a warmth and sense of intimacy in the "small palace." The floor in the entry has translucent alabaster ovals to bring light to the floor below. There are details and treasures everywhere. Put it on your list.

    Bises,
    Genie

  11. A fine composition, Genie. Parisian architecture lends itself so well to images like this.
