Métro Réamur-Sébastapol



With an entrance designed by
the renown Hector Guimard, French architect.


He is now the best known representative of  the
Art Nouveau style of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
This metro station entrance is but one of the styles
designed for the Métro.  


When you are in Paris, 
make a list, a sketch, a photo...
 of all the ones you can find.

    There are so many metro stations, all with their own history. I would probably get quite into that if I lived in Paris!

    Hello Genie,

    How you open our eyes to all the tiny details that make Paris such a fascinating and beautiful city.

    Often filmmakers use the Budapest metro to represent Paris of days gone by........but, only because it is cheaper to do so. This looks a wonderful example of Art Nouveau and what fun it would be to try and spot more.

    Debs, there are several styles of Guimard metro entrances, and it is such a treat to discover another one.

    Jane and Lance, I thought that the Budapest metro was very nostalgic, and I can imagine that much of it has remained the same over the decades. Sadly, many of the Paris stations have been "remodeled." I did not know that the Budapest metro was used in films as such.

    S.C., yes and because there are so many of them, a visitor often stumbles upon one. It is not like there is only one and the guidebooks send you directly there. The same is true of the Wallace Fountains.

    Love Paris Metro and the designs. I have passed through this station but not been outside . Ligne 4 I believe. :-)
