2CV
Deux Chevaux-Vapeur
"Two Steam Horses"
This minimalist, sturdy economical car was
manufactured in France between 1948 and 1989.
Seen in many French films of the 50s and 60s,
I always smile when I see one on the streets of Paris.
bon weekend

What a joy it would be to take a jaunt in that piece of history Genie. It looks very well looked after. Someone's treasured possession no doubt.
ReplyDeleteGood grief! It's in better condition than my car. :-)
ReplyDeleteLovely shot. The truly genius design of the french car industry. Yes those were the times. Thanks for showing.
ReplyDeleteBack in the 30's the 2CVs were getting 78mpg.
ReplyDeleteNow THAT's a nifty car! Don't see those over here.. too bad. Wish I did!
ReplyDeleteAre those plaid seat covers??? Be still my heart!
ReplyDeleteIt's a car with character!
ReplyDelete2CV + reflections. J'aime beaucoup!
ReplyDeleteWhen I was in Paris in the '60s, everyone I knew who had a car had either a VW bug or one of these. This brings back some memories!
ReplyDeleteWonderful.
ReplyDeletesillygirl, I think that it was what a would call a wool lap robe, a small but warm plaid blanket
ReplyDeletesawdustagain, yes, they are amazing vehicles and I wish that they were still in production. I did not know that they got such great gas mileage, though. That would be a great car for our current times, n'est-ce pas?
James, I knew that you would like.
Alexa, I can only imagine what fun it would be to see many of these sporting around Paris in competition with VW bugs.
Joe and Revrunner, except for the ones you see in the countryside, the remaining 2CVs have been restored or at a minimum, very well cared for.
Bises,
Genie
They are such jaunty, sweet little cars ! Bon weekend, dear Genie.
ReplyDeleteBeautifu;, this feels like a photo straight out of the 50's!
