Rue de l'Abreuvoir

Rue de l'Abreuvoir

Just a few steps away from La Maison Rose (a brighter shade of rose) is this charming home, well kept and beautifully adorned with the spring cascades of lavender wisteria.

As much as I love the look of wisteria, it is quite a nuisance and must be properly corralled.  It has been known to kill trees with its heavy weight.

  1. It is beautiful. I didn't know that about wisteria... but we don't get it here.

  2. Bonjour chère amie,

Une très belle façade... Je soupçonne cette magnifique glycine de vouloir la séduire ! Méfiance ! car cette dernière pourrait bien en souffrir...
    Gros bisous ♡

  3. Hello Genie:

This is such a lovely combination - the powdery blue against the soft pink of the house which, we think, is just perfect. How wonderful to arrive there and to be able to call it home.

This is, as you say, one climber which is quite demanding of attention particularly when it comes to correct pruning.

  4. Un petit air "de guingois", aucune fenêtre ne semble placée au même niveau.

  5. It looks so nice against this wall Genie. While the wisteria in Paris is blooming ours is just about lost all its leaves.

  7. I know this about wisteria—and I don't care. Something so beautiful is worth the trouble it takes.
    And Marie will have to fight me for this place! :~}

  8. Hi Genie,
You are so right about the Wisteria.. I love them also, but would never plant one just because of that.. I will admire from afar. Thank you for sharing.
    fondly,

  11. Boy, I am definitely with you about wisteria. Neighbors in CT have wisteria over a portico that is next to my property, and it regularly invades my yard. I don't love it.

  12. Rose and wisteria: an irresistible marriage and a lovely photo! Just near my father's house is a very ordinary bungalow that is totally transformed for a few weeks each spring, when the whole frontage bursts into bloom with a wisteria that's as old as the bungalow itself :o)

  13. Agree totally with those who "know the ways" of the wisteria. The vines are beautiful but will take down a trellis or a tree... perhaps even a house!

It is beautiful in the spring and treat us to the view of these beautiful pale flowers.

Jack, I would keep an eye on it!!

Alain, I think that the mismatched windows are part of its appeal and I had almost missed that.

Jane and Lance, I think that if one were away for a few weeks that the wisteria might advance without the constant threat of the shears.

K, the abundance of blooms are quite a sight.

    Bises,
    Genie
