La Sainte-Chapelle
The Lower Chapel, 1242
The windows of the upper chapel are stunning
but no more so than the vibrant bold colors
of the lower chapel with accents of gold.
This magnificent 13th century Gothic chapel on Île de la Cité
was built by Louis IX for use as his royal chapel.
The lower chapel seen here served as parish church
for all the inhabitants of the king's palace.

Hello Genie:
What soaring Gothic vaulting. It inspires and uplifts the soul - perhaps its original intention.
Exquisite!
The perspective of your photograph emphasizes the beauty of the ceiling arches. This is definitely one of my favorite Paris locations! Bon dimanche!!!
I visited here last summer and absolutely loved it x
Gorgeous. I love the windows upstairs, and my husband and I once attended a concert downstairs. Truly magical.
Good pictures on your blog Regards

You've captured these details wonderfully! The pictures I took in this lower chapel didn't do justice to the details of this space.
Well done!
That is magnificent, Genie!
I love that rich blue.
Such a rich blue in the ceiling arches.
Visiting Ste. Chapelle is like being inside a kaleidoscope.

I love the lower chapel. I think it is often ignored but so very, very beautiful. This is a lovely photo.
