Passage du Grand Cerf
This covered passage has attracted boutiques and galleries with offerings of art, fine crafts, jewelry arts, antiques, and more. The original tiles and the high ceilings attest to its authenticity.
Originating from the end of the 18th century, these covered shopping arcades provided shelter from the inclement weather and the muddy streets of Paris. Even today it is a great option to explore on a rainy weather day in Paris.

Hello Genie:
ReplyDeleteHow splendid this is and so much more attractive in every way to today's modern 'shopping centres'.
WE came across something very similar whilst in Milan. Wonderful architecture and very tempting shops.
This looks a little similar to our Royal Arcade in Melbourne Genie.
ReplyDeleteMaintenant c'est le passage de la grande libellule.
ReplyDeleteOoh ... I love the giant dragonfly! And the reflections in the storefront windows. The floor tiles look like they are in excellent condition. I would like to check them out for myself and then do a little shopping. There is much to explore in this passage! Thank you for raking me there :)
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, I do love the dragonfly, too! And what a great place to shop! Wish we had some like this here in Oregon!! There's a lot to explore there indeed!! Thanks as always, Genie, for another great look at Paris!!

Oh, that is a wonderful space!
ReplyDeleteThis may have been one of the passages mentioned in the Aimee Leduc book I just finished -- they mentioned several in that area! I'll have to check. How pretty.
ReplyDeleteOr an especially cold one—as we did.
ReplyDeleteFabulous photo"
ReplyDeleteI have seen arcades, but they are not as handsome as this one.
