Rue de la Paix - une fille française?

2013 Nov21 Paris _20131121 882 DSC_2581

Rue de la Paix

It was raining on the evening of Beaujolais Nouveau Day,
but this chic French girl with her long black velvet coat
and red plaid parapluie was content to stroll down Rue de la Paix
to window shop in Place Vendome.

The streets were almost empty and the three of us
enjoyed the lights, the misty rain, and the unbelievable windows.

Yes, she is a French girl

  2. Wow. This shot is the highlight today. Wonderful composition and atmosphere. I love he way the shape of the lady and umbrella provide a striking contrast to the hundreds of tiny fairy lights decorating the trees which lead the eye into the distance. Bravo Genie.

  6. Yes, she is—a beautiful French girl! (Don't you love the way the shape of her coat echoes the shape of the Christmas trees?)

  8. Et bien je dois dire que moi aussi, j’aimerais bien me promener dans la rue de la Paix en ce moment, au lieu de me trouver en Géorgie… soupir…

  9. She is a delightful friend and we will welcome her once again into our home the week before Christmas.

I could not quite figure what made this scene so charming, but the way she carries her umbrella on her shoulder is just lovely. One would think that it is her summer parasol shielding her locks from the sun rather than the cold misty rain of late November.

    Thank you for your comments.
