Pont Louis-Philippe
Yes, the rain was relentless,
but Paris keeps moving without regard to the weather.
This stone arch-bridge connects the Quai de Bourbon
on the Île Saint-Louis with the Saint-Gervais neighborhood on the right bank.
It is decorated with stone laurel wreaths
surrounding metallic rosettes which are best seen from the Seine.

Glad that people in France don't pay attention to the weather any more than we, here in the northwest do!! It is gray and grumpy here, but it's been a good week!! Take care, Genie!!

The cyclist and the man with the brief case seem oblivious to the weather ... Unlike the others huddled under their umbrellas. Love the sheen in the cobblestones. Bon-weekend everyone regardless of the weather!
ReplyDeleteThis picture has a certain timeless quality that I love. You know how to take an annoyance (rain) and turn it into a blessing (atmosphere). Brava, Genie.
ReplyDeleteOh i really, really love this! Of course i really love all of your photos. :). I want to BE the person on the bicycle riding through this exquisite area. :D
ReplyDeleteI do love this -- rainy and gloomy but quite wonderful!
ReplyDeleteIn colors, this pic would have been simply pretty. In B&W, it's absolutely gorgeous! Great choice!
ReplyDeleteWhen he lived in Paris, «Louis» crossed this bridge many times! It is nice to see it once again!
ReplyDeleteLovely shot, especially in B&W
ReplyDeleteTimeless... Great shot!

My favorite rainy day thing is counting the number of people who are carrying umbrellas but not using them.
