Doorway
Rue du Faubourg Montmartre
I took this photo two years ago
and was unable on my last visit to confirm that the doorway still exists.
The curtain in the open window is a deep rose.
Many of the charming windows and doors along the busy streets of Paris
have been converted or remodeled into something more modern.
If this is Bouillon Chartier as the small sign might imply,
I am hopeful that this doorway has been preserved
as well as the elegant dining room of this historic restaurant.
Established in 1896, it still serves in the original location.
Next trip I will have to step inside for a closer view.

Très joli cliché!
ReplyDeleteBonne journée!

Pourquoi "Bouillon" ? Ici on commence surtout avec un oeuf mayo ou un hareng pommes à l'huile...
ReplyDeleteOn Google street view, it's blocked by a bus.
ReplyDeleteHi Genie, another beautiful monochrome!

Definitely tempting to peek behind those curtains. The door is lovely!
ReplyDeleteIt's so beautiful -- I hope it's there. A rose curtain... how lovely!
ReplyDeleteIt's a lovely old doorway—I also hope it hasn't been amended in any way.
ReplyDeleteSo there are restaurants in Paris that you have not yet tried?
ReplyDeleteI hope you find it exactly the same on your next trip Genie, it would be such a shame if it had been modernized oui!
ReplyDeleteIt has to be there still, Genie. Paris is usually pretty good about preservation. Let us know!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your recent comments, Genie. No, I didn't have the pink photo sitting around. I had taken pictures two or three times before, but I always thought it was pretty revolting, so I never showed it. This time I wanted to show a photo of a wonderful Victorian house that was being repainted a dozen shades of pink, but the painting wasn't finished. So, I went back and took a photo of the house you saw!
It's beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWith a little investigation today, I "found" this door, and feel comfortable that it is still in place. With 135 photos on one of the French sites of the restaurant (which cannot be seen on Google maps), I found ONE that showed just enough of the Guimard awning to know exactly where it is. Oh, and there were about 70 photos of food.
ReplyDeleteAlain, tu es marrant! (mais, c'est vrai)
I will go back and take another photo (or 20) as the wood tones are lovely.
Bises,
Genie
