Oyster mushrooms
The mushrooms are plentiful in the Paris markets, fresh from the countryside. Although I have not cooked in Paris, it would be a delight to choose from the abundance of fresh produce.
These oyster mushrooms would be just the thing for a recipe I use at home for mushroom soup. The basic premise is to use all the mushrooms you can fit into the pan.

That recipe would work for me!

Mmmm. Soup is good for a cold winters day like those we have been experiencing down here in Melbourne lately. I can smell the aroma of your mushroom soup already.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to be in Paris for mushroom season one year. Even if you were just eating them cooked in restaurants, not cooking them for yourself.
ReplyDeleteI love mushroom soup ... Alas, I am the only one in my family who does;therefore, I only get to enjoy it when dining out :(
ReplyDeleteI've tried to like mushrooms—but just don't. I do like your photo though!
ReplyDeleteI think I like your recipe! Is that all there is to it?
ReplyDeleteWonderful photo!
Amazing aren't they not just these mushrooms but the Mushroom stalls on the market . Staying in an apartment is fab , shopping and cooking :-)but with a difference to home, the shops are great and the markets are super.
ReplyDeleteI adore mushrooms and eat them a lot. I make a soup out of these, too.
ReplyDeleteEven raw they look yummy.
ReplyDeleteSo for those who are interested, send me an email and I will send you my mushroom soup recipe (2 pounds of mushrooms or more) plus butter, onions Madeira wine and more.. easy and loaded with mushrooms. Thank you for your comments.

Ahhh, dear Genie...now it is YOU who is making my mouth water!! :)) These mushrooms are gorgeous, and eating fragrant chanterelle soup is one of my earliest childhood memories...thank you for taking me back! :)
ReplyDeleteI know these are not chanterelles, but in Europe they are so much more abundant...here I have to make do with dried....
And thank you, chere amie, for stopping by again! I know...those lava cakes look amazing! Peanut butter in the middle...wow...
