Les marchés de Paris
It is impossible to read a novel (or non-fiction)
about life in Paris without observing the daily shopping.
I think about the time I spend driving to
the seafood market,
the family-owned vegetable market,
and the grocery for the other items.
How wonderful would it be to walk down this pedestrian street,
greeting your neighbors, while selecting all the items you need.
Rue Cler
75007, Paris
How wonderful indeed, chere Genie...I dream of it often.. :)

Sure beats the multi story shopping complexes Genie.
ReplyDeleteAll french people do this, not only in Paris. Don't you do that in your own town?..
ReplyDeleteI love this little street. And yes, I wish I could do that too, on a regular basis.
ReplyDeleteAnd this ear worm is going through my head.... I have to learn the words so at least I can have context! Back to the computer!
I also wish this were ma vie quotidienne, Genie. Maybe one day . . .
ReplyDeleteRue Cler is much too touristy for me. There are many, many better places to shop in Paris.
ReplyDeleteI too like the little shops much better than our huge American supermarkets. Everything here is just too impersonal and bland
ReplyDeleteThere is much to be said for that type of commerce! Excellent photo ... Makes me want to jump in and join them!
ReplyDeleteGenie, the key to your observation is "walk." Their city is built to facilitate walking. Ours are built to facilitate driving. Many of us say we would trade, but we wouldn't give up the nice features that driving affords us. Like, in my case, living on a golf course.
ReplyDeleteWonderful b&w shot.
ReplyDeleteIt's such a different way of life isn't it Genie, shopping daily instead of as we do for the week and in some cases longer.. I would love to do it the European way..
ReplyDeleteis this in the l'aligre (am i spelling that right) area?
