Les Fontaines
The Fountain of Warsaw
Between the Palais de Chaillot at Trocadero and the Seine is a garden designed by Jean-Charles Alphand for the Exposition Universelle (1878). This array of magnificent fountains was created by Roger-Henri Expert for the Exposition Internationale des Arts et Techniques dans la Vie Moderne in 1937.
If you come in the evening to see the sparkling Eiffel tower,
you can enjoy the lighted display of these cascading fountains.

The water looks a lot cleaner in this beautiful photo than it did a few years ago during a very hot summer... It was very murky then, but that did not stop Parisians and visitors alike to jump in to keep cool! Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)
ReplyDeleteTrès sympa....

Looks like a great spot Genie. I think someone has had their laser accurate pruning shears out to shape those conifers on the left.
ReplyDeleteNice angle! It is easy to overlook the wonders of the Trocadero area when you are fixated on ET ... Very nice to be reminded of some of the other beautiful sights!
ReplyDeleteAdorable fountains!Delicious feeling of Summer seeing this image!
ReplyDeleteRefreshing!

We have some nice fountains, but none as magnificent as those around Paris
ReplyDeleteThese fountains add so much to the Trocadéro, don't they? Love the way you framed this shot, Genie!
ReplyDeleteI rarely go to Trocadero when in Paris, but will undoubtedly do so this July with my daughter and family.
ReplyDeleteLove those fountains.
ReplyDeleteBig fountain!
ReplyDeleteVeronique, the good news is that just a year or two ago, the fountains were refurbished and they look fabulous and clear. I do love watching the many jets of water as the pattern of the fountain plays out.
ReplyDeleteThis is a wonderful spot to wait and watch La Tour Eiffel as the clock strikes the evening hours. The fountains are a great lead-in to the twinkling of the tower... what a show! (and it's free)
