Henri Sabatier - architecte

280 Rue Saint-Honoré

I walk past this building many times daily when I am in Paris.
What caused me to look up and see the sweet face of a cherub this time?

There was not a date on the building that I could see, and on the other end of this transom was another cherub with his back turned to the street and the notation of the engineering company, "Canal et Schuhl"

  4. The sculpture is funny to find here by the architect's name. Can you imagine them planning it? Here’s my Dreaming of France meme if you want to play along.

  5. I always wonder if they used the face of a relative, loved one or client for their inspiration. This is a sweet face ... Perhaps the sculptor's child?

  8. That cherub looks really strange with a huge thigh and comparatively small torso.

  14. In order to actually see and notice ALL the artistic details on the buildings of France, one would have to walk while continuously looking up. That, of course, would result in some very messy shoes most days.

  18. Thank you for your comments. This building could do with a cleaning, but the soiled appearance gives a haunting effect... I hope that I have a shot of the other cherub to show another day.

    Bises,
    Genie
