Le Moulin de la Vierge
This boulangerie sits in a wasteland of drab buildings in the 14ème,
a single jewel rescued from the wrecking ball.
It has tile walls
a wood-fired oven
murals of women carrying armfuls of wheat
etched glass doors
delicious breads, and...

Tervehdys Genie.
ReplyDeleteKatselin kuviasi ja ne ovat ihania. Kuten tämä koristeellinen pieni kauppa. Hmmm.. herkullinen.

It's definitely worthy of saving.
ReplyDeleteA fabulously looking shop Genie. I do like the pattern in the tiles at the base. Did you buy any treats?
ReplyDeleteAwesome capture, I love the reflections! :)

ReplyDeleteIt's simply a jewel.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the visit...it's always nice to see your face.
i love places like that ... such a lovely frontage
ReplyDeleteBeautiful capture. Let's sit with un café au lait et un croissant chaud and you can tell me the fascinating story :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful shop! It looks so cheery and I love the pops of red! :)

I love the story of this place—it's always gratifying when the "little guy" wins, and this place was so worth what he went through to save it. Thanks, Genie!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad it was saved. Love the tiles on the facade. Bet the bread is good too!
ReplyDeleteThe façade is wonderful, with great color, great tile, great lettering and everything else. Love the story!
ReplyDeleteA fabulous story to go with a wonderful place. I love the etched windows and the red! And i'm pretty certain i'd adore their bread. From a wood-fired oven. (Also my favorite way to bake pizza.) Alas, i have to go out to have it that way. No wood fire oven in my suburban home. lol. Beautiful post as always, Genie!
ReplyDeleteWow!!! What a story!!! I absolutely would love to visit this one!!! Is Basil still connected to the boulangerie???
ReplyDeleteI just checked out this address on google streetview. What a depressing neighourbood. But the boulangerie looks great and makes me want to eat a pain au chocolat right now.
ReplyDeleteSomehow it is comforting to know that places like this continue to exist. This is what helps make up Paris' charm.
ReplyDeleteMon Dieu! To think this could have been knocked down. It's a real gem.
