Rue des Cinq Diamants - le chef

le chef

On rue de la Butte aux Cailles, the chefs and cooks from
various restaurants gather outside to chat,
have a smoke, and get ready for the busy lunch crowd.

I have seen this same chef on three trips
and will be taking a photo to him in a few weeks.

I wonder what he will be serving that day...

  2. Hello Genie:
You have caught this chef in a wonderfully relaxed pose. We are certain that he will be delighted, and perhaps a little surprised, with his picture.

  3. Perhaps he is measuring the quantity of truffles to add to his risotto.

  6. Somehow he doesn't look French. I don't know why but I trust that he's a good cook!

  8. Believe me it was 'this......big'!!! Lovely relaxed moment captured Genie. Lucky you having another trip to look forward to. I so wish Perth wasn't so far away from everywhere.

  9. Imagine what a job it is to cook for people all day! I'd be out relaxing with a cigarette if I had to do that all day too! He deserves the break! :)

  13. Joe, this chef probably could whip up a mean risotto but this area of Paris is a bit more down to earth preparing very good but more of home cooking. They do have some great French Basque dishes. I always get a salad which comes in a stainless steel mixing bowl - very large for about 9Euros! This is a place for families, students, locals. It is not exactly a tourist destination and you may share a table as they fill to overflowing at lunch.

I am counting the days until I return.

    Bises,
    Genie
