Pain et Chocolat
A sweet Paris friend who has a shop on Rue Cler told me about this delightful place nearby, and I was smitten before even walking inside. It is very small and an older married couple "do it all" from the baking and cooking to the serving. They are svelte as dancers and move almost as quickly, taking care of the diners.
The food is fabulous and the inside is as charming as the outside terrace.
Oh, please note the lap blankets for the cool morning petit déjeuner.
I will be back there for lunch with Holly very soon.

That is where you would find me if I was there. Lately the craving for chocolate has been a tough battle to win.
ReplyDeleteCharmant! Who would not like to sit down at one of these tables on a sunny day? Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)
ReplyDeleteOh, yes!! This is definitely where you'd find me! What a delightful looking place! I love the lap blankets for the those chilly mornings! Wonderful!! Hope your week is off to a good start, mon amie!

A warm and cosy place!
ReplyDeleteHello Genie:
ReplyDeleteWe are about to have breakfast, and what fun it would be now to be sitting in the warm September sunshine on the pavement of this café and ordering hot chocolate and croissants.
Pavement cafés here also supply blankets to take the chill off!!
What a delightful cafe for a chat in the sunshine. Very Parisienne.
ReplyDeleteThis is my kind of place, Genie! And blankets ~ how thoughtful. It would be very hard to give up one's seat there.
ReplyDeleteIt's gorgeous Genie and I've made a note for my next sojourn in Paris!
ReplyDeleteI have a little "French" notebook and everything goes in that!
The blankets are wonderful - any 'point of difference' like that is important when there are so many cafes to choose from.
Enjoy your lunch with Holly next time!
love
Shane
Oh, this looks and sounds perfect. I almost can smell the delicious sweets they are surely offering. And there is a blue door right next to the salon de thè!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous setting!
ReplyDeleteMay I join you, please?
Delightful. I will be with you in spirit and desire!
ReplyDeleteI like Pain et Chocolat and pains au chocolat!
ReplyDeleteLovely, & a sweet story of the owners. I am so excited for you that you are going to Paris!! PS Thank you for your Sweet notes on my blog, Genie. Rita
ReplyDeleteHi Genie,
ReplyDeleteSounds lovely and comfortable! Have a great day..
This spot has been on my list for quite some time--for my mid-October visit to Paris. :-) JudyMac
ReplyDeleteToday I was invited to eat a piece of chocolate and a piece of bread after lunch and I said "no thanks". In this place I would say "yes, so glad!!"

What a sweet looking cafe! I think it is so neat that an older couple work at this together. At hearing the word chocolat, I find myself thinking about having some. :)
ReplyDeleteWow. Ill make sure to visit this place, hopefully soon.
ReplyDeleteAaaaahhhh such a lovely cafe! I love mom and pop charm like that!
ReplyDeleteLove this little area of Paris. Jotting this down in my little black book.
ReplyDeleteI only make a recommendation if I have actually eaten in a restaurant, and I can tell you that I will be going back to this one again... soon. The sweet Paris friend on Rue Cler (who sold me her late husband's fêves) said that this is her favorite place in the area and that she is good friends with the couple.
ReplyDeleteJane and Lance, but yet another reason to make that journey!
Shell, they will not run you out of a place like this no matter how long you stay... very charming.
Val, the desserts here were fabulous, well, the two that I had (uh, shared).
Merisi, and any others interested, I only wish that we could all meet here. I will think of you and will capture another photo.
I would like to get the couple, but they move so quickly taking care of the diners, that it would be like photographing a pair of hummingbirds!
Bises,
Genie
Genie, I can smell it from here! Mmmmm . . .
ReplyDeleteI think i can smell the yumminess from all these miles away! :)
ReplyDeleteMakes me hungry for a pain this morning with my café. i"m putting this on my new list! :)
