Sacré Coeur
le blanc
Even with weathering and polution,
this church made of travertine stone remains white.
This sacred landmark sits high on the butte of Montmartre
overseeing all of Paris.
This is my contribution to a five-color series of photos,
and with this I look up in reverence to the whiteness of Sacré Coeur.
bon dimanche
La Basilique du Sacré Coeur de Montmartre

Beautiful looking church.
ReplyDeleteGood shot!
ReplyDeleteBlanc et bleu... L'est couleurs de la Vierge.
ReplyDeleteDelightful picture of an interesting building.
ReplyDeleteBon dimanche!
Perfect!
ReplyDeleteHello Genie:
ReplyDeletePerhaps as you say, it is rather remarkable that after all the years this landmark church should remain, in appearance, totally white. It looks especially good in your image here against the blue sky, broken with a few white clouds.
I love this church and it's elevated position.Lovely image, looking upwards towards the heavens.....as intended!
ReplyDeleteBon dimanche Genie,
Ruby
So gorgeous, I love this landmark and over course the views as you mentioned are so panoramic. You've captured the colours beautifully.
ReplyDeletePs. I have a question about the photograph you've taken for the header of your blog where your title is writing? To be very specific, its the image of the Seine splitting in two? Where exactly did you take that photo from. It's such a beautiful view and I'd love to see it myself in person.
This Church is magnificent and your picture is a brilliant composition, I love the blue sky and the domes!
ReplyDeleteHave a nice Sunday,
Léia
J'adore this image Genie, this has got to be one of my favourite places in Paris, the view from the front of this magnificent Basilique is just fabulous oui! Can't wait to see blue.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful, Ihave a photo from the very top of the dome , that my friend and I climbed up too. amazing views.
ReplyDeleteGreat perspective on this... and amazing how it stays so white, and visible from afar.
ReplyDeleteHope all is well and that macaroons are plentiful !
Jolies photos de Paris. Bravo!! J'aime beaucoup.
ReplyDeleteA bientôt.
I love this church shot! Church architecture often provides the best material for brilliant photos.
ReplyDeleteSorry I missed this one when I was there. What a beautiful piece of architecture. Have been out and about this summer but am back to school and the blog. Hope you are well. the other Genie
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous! I love the beautiful blue sky background, very striking view. :)
ReplyDeletebrattcat, you will be there soon to see it all for yourself!
ReplyDeleteGenie, the other one, nice to see you again and your new profile photo is lovely. Taking a summer off is a good thing!
Brandy, thank you and you know how I love the architecture and details of the churches in Paris.
Brittany, the shot is taken from the Pont des Arts which is a pedestrian bridge. You should take a picnic and watch the sun set over the Seine (facing the other direction).
Owen, I hope to see you soon. All is well and the macarons are plentiful!
As several have said, it is a beautiful sight, whether you are looking in this direction or you are facing back toward the city. How I would have loved to see it with a "blue moon"!
One more color to go in this series... le bleu!
Bises,
Genie
Thanks for the response Genie, I sure will! I know the bridge you are talking about :)
ReplyDeleteTerrific perspective and cropping. I think that part of an image can sometimes be more interesting than the whole. I guess it leaves you wondering what is in the surrounds of the image. I also like the simplicity of colour.
ReplyDeleteChère Génie j'ai toujours aimé cette église pour sa couleur blanche. Elle est unique.
ReplyDeleteJe t'embrasse de l'Italie.
erika
Such a gorgeous shot.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful again, Genie. I like the perspective and the crisp architectural details. Plus, the rich blue of the sky. Nice!
