As the blue skies of this April evening turned the multi-hued shades known only in Paris, we waited for the first "twinkling" of La Tour Eiffel.
The lights on that iron beauty twinkle for about 5 minutes every hour until 1am.
They start on the first hour after the Paris street lights come on.
Little did we know that we would enjoy a show before the main event...
soft streetlights, sculptures, a reflecting pool, fountains.
It was all set off by a delightful carousel (rotating counter-clockwise)
with its calliope music playing.
The police vans?
Manpower to catch the people selling Eiffel Tower keychains - not so magical

A delightful, magical capture indeed! I hope it was a magical evening as well! Have a beautiful week, Genie!

Delightful!
ReplyDeleteHello Genie:
ReplyDeleteAt a first glance we could be transported back to the erstwhile Vauxhall Gardens or similar. But then we spot the police vans!!
Carousels are one of my favorite things about French cities! :)
ReplyDeleteWow, it's even more magical by night. What a fabulous shot with the fountains in the foreground.
ReplyDeleteSam
a week from now I will see this for myself. can't wait!
ReplyDeleteI love the serendipitous delights that happen while one is waiting for the planned ones! Beautiful image here of a jewel of light in the darkness. Is it illegal to sell those keychains? Those guys are usually all around the Eiffel at night, no?
ReplyDeletePity about the police vans but they are not too obvious. This is a very magical photo. Take care Diane
ReplyDeleteVery magical i loved it when i first so the tower twinkling
ReplyDeletePretty scene...
ReplyDeleteYou see the cat & mouse games played in several countries with the illegal venders and police. Wonder what the answer is ?
Gorgeous shot Genie, it's too easy not to notice the police cars.
ReplyDeleteNice, but this one I've got one like it in front of my house. I might even post it one of these days!
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful carousal and at night it is even more magnificent. The spray of the fountains add to the beauty of this image. :)
ReplyDeleteSimplement magnifique!
ReplyDeleteI think the police should leave the trinket sellers alone. True the stuff they 'sell' is cheap and probably from Chine (like everything else), but they're not hurting anyone.
ReplyDeleteVery very romantic!
ReplyDeleteCe carroussel est superbement photographié !
ReplyDeleteET keychains... the MADNESS!
ReplyDeleteOh, Genie ... This photo is exquisite!
ReplyDeleteAh, l'heure bleu—it's the best time. And you're up to XXVI already. This beauty might give the twinkling tower a run for its money. :~}
ReplyDeleteWow. This is a special image, Genie.
ReplyDeletePet, I am quite jealous! A carousel in front of your house... you must show it.
ReplyDeleteI had at least 5 shots of the carousel and the fountains, but could not find an angle without the police vans. Tant pis!
Alexa, I do like the thousands of shades of bleu in the Paris sky, but my favorite is the "almost sapphire" irridescent blue.
Jane and Lance, I would love to see the Vauxhaul Gardens, too.
Bises,
Genie
