Rue Crémieux is a short walking street of two-story houses facing each other.
The jewel tones of the houses give the street a fanciful appearance.
This maison violette with its two magpies may have a story to go along with the art.
Magpies are said to be very intelligent and also attracted to shiny objects,

Is there a fable about magpies by Jean de La Fontaine?

Genie,
ReplyDeleteBeautiful home. The color is most unusual but I really like it! I love the window boxes! Very unusual!
Nummy! Blueberry sherbet walls!
ReplyDeleteLa photo des pies est délicieuse. La maison semble bonne, aussi
ReplyDeleteMerci, Génie!
Thank you for the beautiful photo. Must find that street someday . . .
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful house and I do love the color and the window boxes and the magpie! Delightful captures as always, Genie! Hope you're enjoying your week!

Oh, I like it! So many details to look at on this façade... You are correct about Jean de la Fontaine. As I recall, there was a fable known as "L'Aigle et la Pie." Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)
ReplyDeleteHow funny, I walked through Rue Crémieux yesterday! I don´t know which of the houses is my favourite. This one, the blue one or the green one with the wisteria painted on it...
ReplyDeleteI like when people add a little poetry to their walls! This must be a good home!
ReplyDeleteLove the violet color! This is so unique ... Is there an eagle painted on another house to complete the fable?
ReplyDeleteNice birds! I wonder if I could get the painters painting my house today to add a few. :-)
ReplyDeleteVery pretty. Someone who lives there loves color.
ReplyDeleteSam
what a wonderful capture...definitely something to tweet about.
ReplyDeleteIt is colourful, but it works so well. So stylish, as so often the French are. Beautiful photographs!
ReplyDeleteI love the colorful buildings, but even more I love the art on the walls, it is great.
ReplyDeleteCharming facade and I'm delighted by the door! :)
ReplyDeleteLéia
May I just have one of these colorful houses, pretty please?
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful house and I love the color too.You can see that it is an old house because of all the electricity threads outside the house. You see that in all old cities and neighbourhoods.
ReplyDeleteThat's a color you don't see everyday. I like it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a find Genie. Love it.

Kate! That's it! I could not decide which delicious dessert it was, but blueberry sherbet has fewer calories than some I was thinking of
ReplyDeleteDenise, it is easily found off of Rue de Lyon in the 12ième and worth a stroll.
Veronique, I do recall L'Aigle et la Pie, and now will go find it to read again. (merci, mon amie!)
Vreni, it is hard to pick a favorite although the leaping cat chasing the birds is probably my favorite.
Marie, there is not one, at least I did not see one. I must go back to take another look.
Revrunner, how fun that would be. The painting on this violet house and the one I presented a few weeks ago are probably painted by the same artist. It is amazing how lifelike and three dimensional the window appears. It even has a shadow of the bird as he holds the diamond ring!
brattcat, there is much tweeting on this street - cute!
Minerva and Riet, every house on this street is painted in different "sherbet" shades of color and none are any brighter than this violet one.
Alexa, you pick out one of these houses and I'll have one too. It is so quiet here with a kitty or two in residence. What fun we would have!
I still have a few more shots of this street which I will show another time. The colors almost remind me of Burano but they are not as bright.
Bises,
Genie
Oh, this is so fantastic! This whole street has multi-colored houses? How fun...and I love the paintings of the birds (like the other ones you posted with the kitty!)
ReplyDeleteThis is joie de vivre!
Bises,
- Irina
How quaint! Charming.
