So, the mystery is solved...
In a very life-like pounce le chat roux is going after the birds on the next window ledge.
I feel certain that they all escape, leaving the adventure for another day.
Rue Crémieux is a short walking street of two-story houses facing each other.
The colors and tromp l'oeil such as seen here are abundant.
Le chat roux which I showed you last week lives on this storybook street also. Do you think he was the model for ce chat roux qui se jette sur les oiseaux*?

Hi Genie
ReplyDeleteYes, I do believe he is ! What beautiful tromp l'oeil... Thank you so much for sharing this.. Just beautiful.
Penny
Not sure of the connections, but the photos and story are merveilleux.
ReplyDeleteA la prochaine, Génie.
These are not just photos anymore... You have officially created a series. "La Saga du Chat Roux," par Genie. Excellent! Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)
ReplyDeleteLife imitating art?
ReplyDeleteUn très joli trompe l'oeil... Et ce chat roux qui se trouve être une vedette!
ReplyDeletegros bisous
These are so delightful, Genie!! The perfect smile and giggle to end my day! I love them! Only in Paris!! Hope your week is off to a great start -- mine is now!
ReplyDeleteHugs

Rue Crémieux is such a beautiful narrow street!! I will have to go back there in July.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to believe this kitty is the inspiration for the beautiful artwork. Both are gorgeous ~ such a wonderful flight of whimsy on what is otherwise a modestly restrained facade. You must have chuckled a lot when you happened upon it, Genie.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I looked at your blog early in the morning. You put a smile on my face with today's posting. It's the best way to start the day. Thanks Genie.
ReplyDeletePourquoi pas? I love that painting on the wall, i find it sooo poetic and pretty!
ReplyDeleteTrès Parisien! I would love to have such a fun decoration on my home! A great reminder to always look up.
ReplyDeleteno question you've found the inspiration as well as the treasure of this whimsical art. what a fabulous place and post.
ReplyDeleteThat third little bluebird had better get a move on, he looks like he might be loitering a little long! Another example of why it's so important to look up now and then, well spotted indeed Genie.
ReplyDeleteI love this. Someone sure has a great imagination and is very creative. It is so playful and just makes me smile looking at it. Luv it.
ReplyDeleteHello Genie:
ReplyDeleteThis is absolutely splendid!! How we love both the idea and the execution of the cat and the birds - something which, in the right place, would be so good to copy. The whole concept is both so creative and imaginative and also, of course, enormous fun. We too hope that the birds are forever escaping.
We have so missed your posts over the past few days during which time we have been busy with our Dutch friends.
How very clever and yes I do believe the cat stretching in the window well was the model for the tromp l'oeil.
ReplyDelete:) Kris
Great images love the art work very inventive

ReplyDeleteWe don't see that kind of whimsy on the homes here in Los Angeles.
ReplyDeleteThis makes my day, it is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteJust catching up after a weekend away. Love 'la saga du chat roux'. So glad that you found it to share with us.
ReplyDeleteHow whimsical! I really love it.
ReplyDeleteYou are really clever in finding the small odd streets and things! (On the way to Aligre?) :-)
ReplyDeleteCute. But I do wonder why people do this.
ReplyDeleteoh, small details like this are what make life wonderful!
ReplyDeleteNicely spotted and captured!
ReplyDeleteJust fabulous Genie. Other followers beat me to the word "whimsy". Perfect to describe this quaint distraction and wonderful artistry.
ReplyDeleteYay—I guessed right (about what you would reveal today, that is). I'd certainly like to think that last week's chat roux was the model for this one. Gotta say—not much escapes your eagle eye, Genie!
ReplyDeleteFrom the "finder's" viewpoint, this is one of my favorites. The artistry is very good and holds up under close scrutiny. The concept is fanciful (full of whimsy) and the use of the actual birdhouse just added to the scene.
ReplyDeleteFor those who "know" cats, the pounce movement is true to form even to the look in his eyes.
I have enjoyed reading your comments today and as I was taking the photos was even then thinking about my blog readers and what you might say.
To answer Peter's question, yes, I was on my way to Marché d'Aligre having taking a bus to Bastille Opera. I wanted to walk a different route to the market (St. Antoine being the usual) and got a bit lost. I was ready to turn around and walked right past the end of this street. It was a discovery! It was not on a map or in a book, nor had I read anything about it... for that moment in time, it was all mine.
I have more to share from this street, more than leaping pussy cats, and I think that you will like it. I could see myself living on Rue Crémieux.
Bises,
Genie
I will definitely be one of your neighbours!!
ReplyDeleteThe bird looks real.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful.. I love this kitty. Hard to find words to say how much i love this! Maybe to say i feel like a little girl on Christmas morning joyfully opening a favorite gift. :D
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing, I had a lovely walk through your story, thanx!
ReplyDeleteI believe it's the same !
ReplyDeleteBeautiful drawings and marvellous place !
