Surely there is a story about this restaurant in Paris named... "Jet-Lag"
All that I have read is that it is an American style (?) restaurant with about two and a half stars (out of five) on several rating sites. Three additional questions:
Why would you put an American style restaurant on this wonderful street for foodies in Paris?
and.... why would you give it such a repulsive name?
Do you really want to eat in a place called "jet-lag"?
On a positive note, I do like the red and white café chairs and tables.
Jet-Lag
3, rue de Montorgueil
75001 Paris
Oh I love the red and white in there too. Hmmm... probably the owner is American and gets a jetlag every time he comes to Paris to visit but puts up with it anyway because Paris is such an amazing city and he made it an American cafe to remind him that he is an American and needs to go back to the States... oh there goes my imagination... Have a wonderful day ♥
ReplyDeleteI think I would give it a try just to say I've been there.
ReplyDeleteWell, it is colorful and I like that, too, but some how it seems a tad out of place??? Great shot for the day though! Hope your week is going well, Genie!

ReplyDeleteBelle journée...

Rue Montorgueil is one of my favourite streets in Paris! So why didn´t I notice this American style café? I would like to know what is so American... Anyway I love the typical Parisian chairs!
ReplyDeleteI would never have guessed it to be a two and a half star restaurant. I like the chairs.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you with this cafe - love the chairs, dislike the name and why American food in Paris?
ReplyDeleteWarm regards
Looks to me like a typical Paris terrace from the outside and one special for red lovers.
ReplyDeleteHaving stayed a whole week in Rue Montorgueil during 2010 we never saw this establishment but travelling door to door from Australia it would have to be the cafe for a very strong espresso - do you agree?
ReplyDeleteIf you take a look at Oliver Magny's Stuff Parisians Love, you'll find an adoration of English/American words.
ReplyDeleteIt's chic!?
Also the rampant Parisian love for horrid American fast food: cupcakes, hamburgers, cheesecake etc.
All very disturbing to us die-hard Paris lovers who want NOTHING to change!!
hee hee....
ReplyDeleteParisBreakfasts wrote what «Louis» was thinking!
Sometimes we francophiles are more the purists than les vrai français, n'est-ce pas?
It looks like the type of place that would attract American tourists... French looking with an American menu. Plus, with a name like that, that is who I think they are attracting...

Absolutely not. I agree with you - awful name. But I admit it has to do with the fact that I hate jet leg. What were they thinking?
ReplyDeleteSam
On second thought, it's kind of a catchy name. Don't see many people in the chairs though.
hmm, interesting questions...and yet there are customers.
ReplyDeleteIf I was fortunate to travel all the way to Paris I would try to find something typically French. An "American Style" restaurant .. Only in New York.
ReplyDeleteTotally agree with you on all your comments and I think ParismBreakfasts and Louis hit the nail on the head!

ReplyDeleteI got sleepy just looking at the name!

ReplyDeleteThe woman with iPhone in hand seems now to be the typical behavior of people either dining outdoors, waiting to be seated (indoors or out), sometimes even at table, and in particular two guys. They seem not to be able to enjoy the company of others without the phone or some other electronic instrument in hand. My daughter and I observe this every time we dine out of late. It is totally amazing!
ReplyDeleteOliver Magny's book is definitely on my list!
I don't think "American-style" restaurant is a compliment from the French. The name is funny. but I probably wouldn't eat there.
ReplyDeleteI probably wouldn't eat there!
ReplyDeleteOf course you would put an American "style" resto here. If you want a successful business in Paris, you give it an American name. I love the name of this place.
ReplyDeleteA place for weary travelers?
ReplyDeleteI never get jet lag in that direction. I am just so darn happy to be there. It's when I get home :(
ReplyDeleteI am not sure I would wander in there without a recommendation!
Even if I knew it only had 2 1.2 stars, I'd avoid it. Definitely not my kind of restaurant. Around Les Halles there are good ones...big and small.
ReplyDeleteI love this terrace and give it a chance! A good place to be when you have a 'Jet-Lag'.
ReplyDeleteAnd Genie, when you are going to eat there, tell us how it was!
Regards,
Maria
I stayed for a long time watching the woman, her attitude, her face, her fingers. She was waiting for a man or perhaps for an answer.

Wonderful shot.
ReplyDeleteOK. I am persuaded. I won't eat there.
ReplyDeleteMaria, I probably will not eat there unless some Parisian tells me that s/he approves. Without being snobbish, I do not fly all those miles across the Atlantic to eat a French interpretation of American food. I want to eat what the locals eat and where they feel comfortable.
ReplyDeleteThe name of this restaurant put me off initially as do the signs proclaiming "happy hour." Puleeeze!
I love reading the comments and different perspectives... Holly and I were a bit Jet-lagged as we walked by this resto on initial walk to the apartment from the Métro, RER, and CDG airport.
Bises,
Genie
How funny! Well, I guess at the least, it gets your attention!
ReplyDeleteLe Jet Lag I love it. Franglais wins again. What will the Académie Française think of this?
ReplyDeletelove the name, cute chairs too :)
ReplyDeleteI know where the location is but I don't recall seeing this place. Maybe I blocked it out. However I'd much rather be sitting there right now. :)
ReplyDeleteWeird name for a resto, I wonder if their next strategic step will be to open a branch at the airport... :)
ReplyDeleteGod bless you!
