Ah, Passy. A village in the heart of Paris (and one of the liveliest areas in the sedate 16th arrondissement.) Did you get to do some shopping there Genie, when you stopped clicking away? ;-) Great shot, by the way. Beautiful sky. Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)
Lorsque j'étais petite (et encore aujourd'hui), j'adorais regarder Mary Poppins... Les vues des toits avec les grandes cheminées me fascinent. Belle prise. gros bisous

Might see this soon... Just been offered a job in Paris, working for Air France... We'll see. I might start a Paris Daily Photo blog, if it works out...
Jack, I am hoping that it is "roof" although the title gave me pause.
Veronique, I did get to shop there and discovered some hidden treasures (and a patisserie)!
Martine and Joe, I did not immediately think of Mary Poppins but it now seems quite natural!
Rob! I would be so envious, but would have to meet you on my next trip to Paris!
To all who admired the soft colors of winter light, the textures and that divine chimney... I agree. What a beautiful scene and I would want to know more about that unique chimney. I would think that this would be a lovely place to live.
By the way, have you heard of the Passy family ? Frederic Passy, 1st Peace Nobel prize winner and his son, father of the International Phonetic Association and founder of the community "LIEFRA" (liberté-égalité-fraternité) ?
I love the glow of the evening.
ReplyDeleteOh, yes! I love the glow of evening, too! Such a lovely shot, as always! Hope you have a wonderful weekend, Genie!

Sylvia
It is appealing. So, what is a toit?

ReplyDeleteThe low winter sun always enhances these beautiful building shots....have a nice weekend Genie..!
ReplyDeleteOh wow...What a beautiful sight!
ReplyDeletelove all of those angles and textures.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shot Genie, would love to see behind some of hose shutters. Loved the high ceilings and old features of Paris apartments, so much character.
ReplyDeleteI would love to see more of that intricate chimney on the middle...such work for such an basic and ordinary thing.
ReplyDeleteI could sit and look at Paris rooftops all day! Look at those gorgeous chimney pots!

It "feels" very European.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful light..
ReplyDeleteGreat capture of that light. The ornate chimney pot couldn't have a better back-drop.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful soft light and colours. One would hardly think "winter" to look at them, they're so warm. The angles and lines make a great composition.

During the French Revolution, the little vilage of Passy sheltered many aristocrats trying to hide from those agents of the Comittee of Public Safety.
ReplyDeleteA good number of them managed to come out alive while others...
Lovely shot, Mme. Genie
