I took this photo last December not knowing that Marie, our concierge (J), and I would enjoy a dinner here in April. We sat adjacent to Alan Alda, his wife, and another couple, but left them to dine in peace.
However, I was humming the theme from Mash off and on.
Don't you think that this would be a great place to ring in the new year?

It would be a lovely place indeed, Genie. I'd prefer seating next to Diane Keaton, Keanu Reeves, and Jack Nickolson myself -- no offense to Monsieur Alda. I was there last in December 2010 with Le Husband, and I recognize the Christmas decorations. We could have bumped into each other! That would have been fun. ReplyDeleteOh no!!! Now I'm humming it! ;)
ReplyDeleteSounds like a cool evening...and I love that frosty sparkle decor.
Bises,

I love that theme! And this would be a perfect spot to see in NYE - I will content myself with looking at your photo of it instead, dear Genie.
ReplyDeleteGreat photo and great company.. please also tell us about what they serve.. so we can think about it for our next Parisian visit !! I see the menu on your picture but can not read :-(
ReplyDeleteThe room swayed when Dimitri tipped the waiter and made his way to the door of the Le Grand Colbert. Nothing serious, just a little too much champagne to ring in the New Year. As he heard the latch engage behind him he raised his fur to cold. "Mon Dieu" the doorway seemed framed with white sticks. "No champagne next year", he muttered trudging into the night.
ReplyDeleteYes, that's where Keaton, Reeves and Nicholson made their movie together ("Tout peut arriver "is the french title).I love Diane Keaton!
ReplyDeleteoh, yes. it's so welcoming and enchanting.
ReplyDeleteFor sure! Get me a table. You got 'pull'?
ReplyDeleteMe too
ReplyDeletePlease save some chairs for me at your table. Enchanting!
Helen xx
Love the windows!. You'll be very close this trip!

I'll bet that if a place in the US decorated like this, there would have been a lawsuit by now.
ReplyDeleteI love it! What a delightful looking place. I'm ready to see the new year in right there! Lovely capture for the day as always, Genie! Hope you have a beautiful and very Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteSylvia
Je ne connais pas particulièrement le lieu, mais sans doute très agréable à fréquenter...
ReplyDeleteGros bisous
It certainly has an unusual decorating style. I always loved Mash with Alda and his playmates. When I run into celebrities, I usually ignore them, too. It must be a pain for perfect strangers to come up to the table and interrupt dinner. But, occasionally I encounter celebrities who look like they want someone to talk with. I once ran into a famous basketball coach and spent a couple of enjoyable hours talking about basketball and life.
ReplyDeleteJe pense que oui.. Je te souhaite une Nouvelle Année riche en Santé, Amour, Félicité et Bonheur-
ReplyDeleteJe t'embrasse.

So beautiful and very cool that you dined next to Alan Alda. I respect him, seems to be one of the only marriages in Hollywood that has made it through the storm.
ReplyDeleteWe said Au revoir to Paris there and I would love to say Bonjour to the New Year from that same delightful location! Love the very unique Christmas decorations ... it is a charming photo and the place seems to glow with warmth from within.
ReplyDeleteWhat a very lovely photo. You know, I guess as we age we lose the desire to barge in on celebrities as they dine and prefer to leave them to dine in peace. I would have done the same thing you did.
ReplyDeleteGenie,
I hope your Christmas was filled with peace, joy and wonder and that 2012 brings to you and your family much success, good fortune, health, happiness and most importantly love.
Kris
What an awesome blog... and what amazing pictures. Paris is on my bucket list. Maybe we'll run into each other because I'm making my husband take me, one day.
ReplyDeleteAfter seeing the movie, I HAD to dine there and mon mari was agreable. At that time, they were happy to show off their book of photos made during the filming of the movie.
ReplyDeleteLove seeing how they decorate for Christmas. I was there during the month of April...2007?.
Anni, I do not remember the selections that evening, but I will not forget the Profiteroles au Chocolat Chaud (miam-miam)! You can click on the link and read the menu in English/French.
ReplyDeleteJoe, you've met Dimitri? Oh la la! He does love the Champagne!
To all who mentioned Allen Alda, he does seem to be genuine and as noted is still married after many years. Paris holds its allure for stars and common folk alike.
Dee, keep it on your bucket list. Dream about it, and then go. You will not be disappointed.
To all, I will save a place for each of you and we will make our own party!
Bises,
Genie
