Apiculteur parisien

This friendly gentleman with a delightful sense of humor has a boutique, Les Abeilles,
selling honey and other "bee-products" on La Butte aux Cailles.
You can even buy all that you need to set up as a beekeeper.
He is an expert in les abeilles, miel, cire d'abeilles, a true apiculture parisien!

A purchase of honey and beeswax candles was made after a delightful visit with him in the petite shop.  Two large vats of honey along with all the other products give the small space a sweet aroma.

Monsieur Schakmundès became my newest Paris friend,
and I will carry this portrait back to him in January.

(for Holly, the Queen Bee)

  3. Telle une petite abeille, venir butiner sur votre blog régulièrement c'est délicieux... Jolie publication.
J'adore le miel que j'achète à la miellerie de Plouescat lorsque je vais rendre visite à mes enfants en Bretagne.

  7. Long ago I heard that someone kept a couple of hives on top of the Opera Garnier...I'm going to Google and see if this is (still) so. This fellow has a cute face.

  10. I love the portrait and the little wax beehive for Noel...merci! My little "busy bees" are finishing off the last of the honey and Jack is saying it's time for me to return to Paris for his French Honey! I cannot wait to meet Monsieur!

  14. He was a delight and I look forward to returning with Holly in January. I have forgotten about a special post on bees that Marie and I found (hah!) and will publish it soon.

The stories of bees and honey in Paris is fascinating and I will publish a link for the story about the special quality and purity of honey from the parks and rooftops of Paris. I would LOVE to see the Opera Garnier hives!

I hope that Monsieur likes his portrait as he asked to see how it looked after I shot it. I think he will approve of the b/w although he is quite a colorful character!

    Bises,
    Genie
