My friends and I who live in Paris have noticed an alarming increase in graffiti, vandalism, theft and aggressive behaviour the last year or so...it makes me so very sad for my beloved City. I hope we can find a way to reverse this trend! I love your photo, Genie...but I was getting ready to say this when Amanda also was distracted by the graffiti...a shame!
When we were in Paris I so wanted to make time to have my hair 'coiffed' in a Paris salon, unfortunately too busy trying not to miss anything. I love this picture Genie and I have to say also that the 'graffiti' definitely has a stylish flair to it!!
wow Genie, you got a perfect door for today! Lovely entrance and I like so much the bike as an elegant detail in this composition! The blue is perfect isn't it? And the theme as well, because it's something that I need now, I mean: Coiffeur!:) bises Léia
The door and other framing are lovely, aren't they?
I can't stand graffiti, and on these blogs I see frequent photos of graffiti that seem to be encouraging it. The only kind of "street art" that I accept is the kind that is placed with the owner's consent, preferably with some artisitc ability in evidence. Yes, it makes me sound like an irritable old fart, but so be it.
It's a beautiful blue and for some reason the graffiti doesn't make me nuts—at least it tries to be "artistic" and isn't just ugly, thoughtless, narcissistic tagging.
For this spot (which is not on the google-map) I was captured by the lettering and the faded, almost-Tiffany-blue of the storefront. The architecture is graceful and the large doors beckoned. If I had been setting the scene, I would have had a worn panier on the handlebars rather than the white sack, and perhaps a small pup peering in the front windows (looking for the coiffed master).
Finally, if I knew more about editing programs, I would have "removed" that graffiti. I have mixed feelings about the graffiti seen in Paris and appreciate the truly artistic sites that have likely been commissioned. However, this does not have any socially redeming qualities and I would have loved to cover it with (actual) matching paint.
I will post another graffiti shot this weekend, and we will see what you think. I am conflicted about it also.
Une vitrine inhabituelle pour un salon de coiffure actuel... Mon fils qui possède un salon de coiffure serait étonnamment surpris. Très jolie photo. gros bisous

Lovely shade of duck egg blue Genie - I'm sure the French have a better description for that lovely colour!
ReplyDeleteOh this is so lovely.
ReplyDeleteLove the paint color ♥
ReplyDeleteAm I so weird? That I'm the only one who finds the graffiti cute :(
Barring an unexpected cure, my days of visiting Europe are over.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely adore the graffiti! It looks like a pink twirling ballerina - perfectly pretty.
ReplyDeleteAnd the rest of the scene is gorgeous too - from the duck egg blue to the wonderful mouldings.
I love the asymmetry of this door. Wonderful, Genie!
ReplyDeleteanyone wondering what's in the white bag? it must not be very valuable to be left unlocked and unattachted
ReplyDeleteLove the colour of the doors, hate the graffiti, it is a plague.
ReplyDeletei like the composition with the graffiti. that is such a restful shade of blue.
ReplyDeleteVreni -- Merci! I am adding the street as I could not say for sure until you confirmed.
ReplyDeleteI was sorry to see so much graffiti in Paris.
ReplyDeleteAside from that, beautiful tall door. Has the client come on her bike? ;)

The smartest way going around! A Paris en velo, on depasse les autos, says an old song.
ReplyDeleteSo simple and so elegant.
ReplyDeleteGraffiti, you can't get away from it. Love the bike. Maybe the owner was getting a haircut and wanted to feel the wind in their newly cut hair.
ReplyDeleteThanks for drawing my attention to the graffiti. Looks like a flower of sorts.
ReplyDeleteThe blue is nice, the bicycle, attractive. Merci!
