Café de la Paix -- au matin

Early one April morning Marie and I found this gentleman just beginning his daily routine, arranging the café chairs on the terrace of Café de la Paix. It was designed by Charles Garnier, the architect of Palais Garnier which sits just over your shoulder.

I would love to stop there this Monday morning for une noisette with my friends.

  4. I noticed the gloves, too....

I had no idea this cafe, which I used to pass every morning on my way to work, was designed by the same architect as the Palais Garnier! :)

Garnier no less!! I have got to start saving for next year Genie!! I adore your 'angel' from yesterdays post, it's quite a unique church, somehow it seems just the right spot for it near Montmartre!

  28. I have never even had a café at Café de la Paix. We stopped there once, checked their prices (ridiculously high) and kept walking.

  32. I have never stopped here for un café or a pâtisserie but when I checked the menu on their website, it did not seem outrageous to sit outside (before 11am) and have a coffee and 2 viennoiseries. The pastries were 2 for 5 Euros and the coffee was not listed.

The gloves? I think that it is white-glove service and not a protection of latex gloves.

It is rather upscale as was mentioned, but I would gladly meet all of you there!

    Bises,
    G
